He sounds like some of the dorks in here the way he constantly demeans Floyd, during, before and after fights?

For instance before the Mosley fight, he starts trashing Mayweather before the first bell is even sounded. It like he was cranky because he didnt get his sponge bath at the old folks home that morning.

And its not just Mayweather, he obviously doesnt fancy Hopkins much either.

It seems like HBO has been trying to get rid of him for years. I just dont see the appeal. For every intelligent or smart quip he makes, he makes 10 bad quotes, and is often rambling on for no reason why there is actual action in the ring. See how he basically ruins Pavliks Ko of Jermaine Taylor. Pavlik is drumming Taylor into the ring post and Merchants rambling on like a buffoon.

He's just a guy who is put in a chair to hand out superlative once in awhile. He should not have interview duties.

I feel this is the main difference between the Showtime team and the HBO team. The Showtime team seems to be there for the boxing. While the HBO team seems to be there for the event. EAch one trying to one up the other with senseless sensationalism.

Seriously go watch the Hopkins vs Tarver fight to see Merchant at his worst. Hopkins and Tarver havent spent but 30 seconds measuring eachother, and Merchant declares he's falling asleep. :rofl Is that professional?

Man **** Merchant. He ***** Wladimir K to no end. He hates the fact that nobody likes to watch Wlad, at least in his mind. Diehards fans watch Wlad, the average fan doesn't which is why wlad is never on ppv. Maybe Wlad is content, but Merchant isn't. Just give him a ****in drink and let him do comedy.

He just asks the hard questions and doesn't let fighters off the hook. He did the same thing to Devon Alexander recently and a bunch of fighters throughout his career. Sure he's biased against Mayweather, but he hardly asks him anything he wouldn't ask another fighter who raises similar questions about himself.

He's an old white guy and dislikes Floyd's wannabe hip hop/bling attitude and the way he carries himself. It's not rocket science. It turns a lot of people off seeing a grown man say things that a child should know better. And maybe he just doesn't like spoiled women beaters either.

I was asking my self this last night. I finally got to see the Mayweather n'dou fight and watched how merchent was a ***** toward Mayweather even then. You can see mayweather forceably trying to play it cool and use the right words and ignore the haterism from Merchant.

But i think Merchant believes in Mayweather more than most and is trying boost his career in some sort of Howard Cosell/Ali type deal.

:patsch Another post where you show you don't know WTF you are talking about. Go ahead and cry about this too. Maybe tattle tale to a mod.

Wlad isn't on HBO because HBO STOPPED showing HW fights for the most part based on the lack of interest, and low ratings. They decided that well over year ago. Good post! :thumbsup:deal:good

I was watching the Castillo vs Mayweather 2 fight. And both Mayweather and Castillo are playing their roles well. Mayweather is landing counter hooks. Castillo is occasionally getting to MAyweathers body. In only 3 rounds there were several good exchanges. Yet Merchant pipes in with

"Floyd didnt want to fight in Los Angeles, or New York. They should consider themselves lucky"

WTF? How is that called for? Even Foreman replies with a sarcastic "Uh oh" Because he knows its "hater time"

Floyd's butt buddy is Brian Kenny, my friend.:thumbsup

Floyd and Merchant is more like Leon and Duranimal, young guy who has to deal with a crazy old guy.

I love the Floyd/Kenny dynamic. You just know before the camera starts rolling that Kenny says something like (in Pacquiao voice) "Nothing personal, just doing my job."

Thats the whole point dumbass. Its called professionalism. When John Madden did Monday Night Football, did you here him say "Boy that Randy Moss sure does suck, i mean yeah he can catch, but did you know he listens to rap music?"

You are a commentator. As Mayweather said "Stick to commentating" Not life evaluation and people skills.

Oh and I thought you had me on ignore ******?
