Ok, it's understood that he's a promoter now but c'mon? Teddy Asks him outright who's the most exciting fighter in boxing right NOW and he says, " I have to say Victor Ortiz" ??? WHAT ?!? Again I know he promotes this kid but c'mon Oscar, nobody's buying this! Then Teddy asks him again but this time he states someone outside GBP and he can even think of anyone? What a joke!

You can tell by his response that he misinterpreted the question.

Teddy asked him who has it all in boxing and he jumped to plug Victor Ortiz. His "Oh Manny Pacquiao!" response afterward let me believe he didn't truly get the question and interpreted as who's the next up and coming guy who has it all.

Even though his post was bad, a religion is not a race.

Jews are a race, Judaism is a religion. Whether someone born Jewish practises or believes in Judaism or not, they are still Jewish by race; hence the term "secular Jews".

Dude, Jews haven't been massacring Palestinians for 1000 of years. The modern state of Israel was founded in 1947, on previously Palestinian land, which had been under the control of the British.

Since then it has fought wars with its neighbours, and now it fights against various Palestinian groups, such as Hamas and Hezbollah. In its fights against them it has brought immense suffering to the Palestinian people, and killed many of them, men, women, and children, inflaming hatred and fear generation to generation in the name of its own security. The war continues of course, as each side fights the other for what they have done, and gives more and more reason and fuel for distrust and more war. It is a tragedy for both peoples, for the region, and for the world.

It's not every Jew that does this though, it is the state of Israel, (with various international support) and it is not every Muslim, it is groups such as those mentioned (there are many more, and they too have international support).

Blaming Jews for this is wrong, because it's not "Jews", it's some people, most of whom are Jewish, whilst many other Jews have nothing to do with it, and many oppose it. Witness the Iraq War, its chief architects were mostly Christians and Atheists, but many many Christians and Atheists opposed it. It would be similarly wrong to say that the Iraq War was the fault of "Christians", and to imply that it's all of them, or that it was because they were Christians that they proposed it, when it was because others were Christians that they opposed it.

Criticise Israeli government policy all you like, but don't say "Jews massacre", and neither claim a 1000 year history of this, when the British government was in charge of that land only 70 years ago, when most Jews were in Europe prior to the awful crime of the Holocaust.

P.S. Yes, weird statement by Oscar.

good post i agree with most of what you said, truman in 47 was his biggest mistake to recognize a jewish state......but the palestinians get no state:huh The jews also act like becasue of waht happened to them in world war 2 they can just do what ever they please in the middle east, NO......i tend to be more sympathetic to the palestinians then i do the jews in that conflict becasue they have no state, no real government of their own and get shafted by the world....hezbollah and hamas pop up because we and the jews have radicalized them from cutting them off and giving them the shaft.......i blame the jews in that region for hiding behind there "history" and "faith".....and i think all religion is garbage......but anyways back to boxing....oscar was just doing his job as a promoter, its not wierd he talked about ortiz when asked

Please though, it's not "the Jews", because it's not about their being Jewish, any more than it's about the Palestinians being Muslim, or Christian. It's what the Israeli state and its army does that makes the Palestinians suffer (whatever their religion), not "the Jews", just like Hamas and Hezbollah and so on make Israelis suffer (whatever their religion), not "the Muslims". Don't hate them for being Jewish, don't hate them for being Muslim, but hate the killing.

No one is annoyed with Osama for being Muslim, it's for making war. No one was annoyed with Bush for being Christian, it was for making war. No one need be annoyed with Ehud Olmert for being Jewish, but be annoyed for the attacks on Israelis. As the Bible says, hate the sin, not the sinner.

God has more wisdom than any of us. For all that people make war in the name of religion; God made it pretty simple, "Thou shalt not kill". But we do, we do over and over for our own weakness and stupidity, though God tells us not to do it, and to love.

I guess it makes sense for Oscar to plug Ortiz like that, but I wonder if it dents Ortiz's credibility when his promoter is being too hyperbolic, and so we might wonder if Ortiz is more hype than substance.

A better answer might have been (and maybe he did misunderstand the question), "Well Manny Pacquiao has it all, and he is the most exciting fighter out there right now, but I think that of the up-and-comers, Victor Ortiz is really the most exciting and I think that in a few years we might be talking about him in the terms that we use now to discuss Manny."

well oscar is a smart cat, he did sound awkward how it came out....but i think he knew what he was doing with the whole ortiz thing.....thats the next GBP boy to be in a big fight tomm.....and then he did the manny pacquiao statement after getting asked numerous times name someone else who you are not promoting....and then he finally went to pacquiao.....but the plug for ortiz was very intentional, oscar is a very very smart boxing man...

Is there a country called "Jew town" representing Jews and only Jews?, the answer is no so it remains a religion. You can have jews from England, Egypt, France, Israel, India and whatever. It's a religion, like Islam is a religion and not a race and Christianity and other religions.

    got to agree
its not a race its a religion, so when people are being offensive towards jews they can't be called racist. Nevertheless, the old chestnut of 'anti semitism' is used

    BOXING
i take it that oscar initially thought he was asked about most exciting prospect to which victor ortiz is a credible answer
