Something to do with amateur rivalry back in Michigan? Manny generally has nothing good to say about Floyd without criticism. Floyd in the past has called Steward an uncle Tom

Except Mayweather calling him and Uncle Tom there hasn't been animozity.

Steward has always fairly and unbiasly called his fights. The way he conducted himself days after was called a Uncle Tom was impressive.

Steward is an overated announcer, and trainer. He was lucky to find hearns, and now he does a phil jackson, and trains already trained fighters, I'm also sick of him telling us one person is winning, and when the other starts to win, he instantly says " this is exactly how I saw this fight playing out", Emmanual get lost you old Uncle Tom!

Watch ODLH vs Floyd again and tell me he is unbiased. Steward was a ****ing disgrace calling that fight, lol I could even picture the ******ed looks Merchant and Lampley were giving him.

Thats bull my dude...Manny has seemed to always have a peronal bias against Floyd some starnge reason...He's may have given him his dues but he tends to down talk Floyd whenever he gets the chance...This is even before the uncle tom comments!

I think he does have a bias against floyd....in the hatton fight, he praised hatton early, and then once floyd started to dominate....he said his usual tagline " this is going just as I expected"....the Oscar fight he was pretty bad as well, but I think it worse in the Hatton fight

Steward is jealous that he didn't have the chance to train PBF because they are both from Michigan. This goes way back to his days in the amateurs.

It's not only Stewart, but also Larry Merchant. If you watch the fight between Mayweather and Corely on youtube, you would get an idea of what I am talking about.

It was funny how during the Margo Vs Cotto fight, Steward was biased towards Cotto til the very last second.

The HBO team of Lamps and Merchant , including some of the various participant broadcasters , blantantly root for or against certain fighters. Keeping this in mind , I still like their commentary. Steward seems to judge Floyd on a higher standard , and rightly so.
As for Stewards compentcy as a trainer, he sure did some good work with Hearns and McCrory really forming them from the early amatuer days. Obviously many othersthrough the years as well , and was a very good trainer for Lennox Lewis. As the years went by though, Steward often wasn't focused though with lots of other guys he trained ,and is becoming less and less special or even effective.

Unfortunately, that was my guy Lampley (check my user name), not Steward.

Steward loves to say that he called the fight correctly, but in that instance he was 100% correct. He starts talking early about Cotto having to expend maximum effort to take that kind of approach, and he just couldn't keep Margarito at bay.

A shame that bout got ruined by the gloves controversy.
