My point Reg is that Cotto has 6 notable victories and Dawson only 4 and stop pretending Harding is anything more than a gatekeeper. Dawson was dropped in that fight so do you want to compare him to Torres now???? All 6 of Cottos victories are greater than Harding. So take Harding away and you have 3. Now lets take away Johnson because many fans and purists alike feel Dawson was beaten. Now lets take away the Tarver fight as we all knew Dawson was going to steamroll the old Blevel champ...So whats left? A prime Adamek.....Hope you see my point here..Cottos victories came against prime fighters. I know you will debate Mosley and Judah, but next to Tarver they looked damn near elite

BTW what the hell does Cotto have to do with Dawson? Cotto is more popular because he was in the mix with FMW even if they never fought and he had the PR following to make him something of a boxing star, it doesn't really have that much to do with his resume, though beating Mosley did a lot for his image

My point is that they have similar skill level and accomplishments. Despite this, Cotto was rated way higher than Dawson is. Now I don't have a big problem with this. The problem I have is with people acting like Dawson has a lot of hype surrounding him. Considering he is 26, has won two titles, has beat 3 top LHWs as well a good contender in the form of Harding, he gets very little hype. Hell, Taylor was getting way more hype than Dawson is now; and that's before he fought Hopkins.

Harding was gatekeeper? Maybe, but he has two really good wins and has only lost to elite comp. Judah was coming off a 1 year layoff against Cotto, had been previously destroyed by Floyd and was outboxed by journeyman feather duster. Paulie can do nothing but jab, and his two best wins were over 2nd tier fighters(Ngoudjo arguably beat him). Pinto is trash. Torres is Mayorga with a a glass jaw.

Quintana and Mosely are good wins(even though Shane was slipping.) I rate the Shane win on par with the Tarver win. The Adamek win was better than the Quintana win. The Johnon win was better than the Judah win. I could see someone rating the Paulie win over the Harding win. However, Harding is more talented and battle tested than Paulie. Harding also posed more stylistic problems for Dawson than Paulie did for Cotto.

****adoodledo Reg how on earth do you rate the Mosley victory with the Tarver victory???This is all wrong bro....You're also forgetting how the Judah and Johnson fights were won....Judah was dominated and KTFO whereas many fans and purists alike feel Johnson WON!!! C'mon bro:oops:

A win is a win. I rate Johnson above Judah. Johnson also poses more stylistic problems for Dawson than Judah does for Cotto. Tarver looked pretty good in two previous fights before Dawson. What coincidence that he looks bad against an elite level talent that was ripping him with body shots early.

A wins a win? well not really, sure on paper but a boxing fan or purist takes into consideration HOW..I too rate Johnson above Judah but again it was a tight, could've gone either way victory over Johnson and a crushing KO of Zab Judah, how does this not matter in formulating an opinion or comparison?
So are you saying Tarver looked good against Woods? Interesting
Did you not predict an utter steamrolling of Tarver? Is that not what happened?

Yup, and yup. I'll tell you what, I'll move the Mosley win ahead of the Tarver win. Mosley was a bigger stylistic threat to Cotto than Tarver was to Dawson.

the bad thing about his win over tarver is that numerous amounts of posts were saying dawson would lose this fight. but he wins and suddenly tarver is shot. much the way every fighter is shot after a loss to a guy that most seem to dislike. i like dawson because he's a young family oriented guy who doesnt do alot a trash talk. he goes out and fights his fight. he wants the big fights like any fighter should. it is a business.

Those voting for Tarver were more hopeful than intelligent, thought out predictions...**** I knew Dawson was going to put on a clinic:good

As well you should:good Mosely was great and at the time of the Cotto fight was still most of what he was. Tarver really was never much at all, and you know that:deal
