    hey relentless :good

his weight at his out of shape walk around weight has nothing to do with what weight class is for him. Just because he becomes a pub rat fatass doesnt mean 147 should be his weight class.... of course its easier to make, just like 154 would be easier then 147, yadda yadda... doesnt make it right for him.

i doubt it seriously, if you have numbers to prove your point my apologies. but as far as im concerned thats a no, he does not.

urkal was his mandatory and ring ranked top 10 welter, judah has fought at 147 for years and mosley has just come down from 154 fighting bigger guys.

But I tend to like to think of Mayweather-Hatton as a 140 fight that took place at 147.

Hatton comes into the ring on fight nights at 154 when he fights as a Jr WW - When he fought Collazo he weighed about 160.

Mayweather has never put on a lot of weight in a fight since he has gone up to 140/147 - He put on about 5-7 lbs at 140 and normally puts on about a 1 or 2 lbs at 147.

Exactly, he is actually too much of a pigmy to even attempt a jab and his body doesnt hold the 7 pounds particularly well

Ricky Hatton is the first to say and for the second consecutive time in welterweight fights - " Floyd Mayweather is not the biggest welterweight in the world but I felt the difference, you know?..." So what is this supposed to say? Hatton gets disadvantaged in the strength department with world class opponents weighin under the 147 pounds limit in the official weigh-in, obviously they are going to weight more than that on fight night. The incredible punch-fest, no-holds barred match between Hatton and Cotto may be off permanently and who's the blame? Hatton for going after Mayweather with the sort of tactics and clash of styles that fight revealed. Hatton was right - what a fluke that was - when you could have had Mayweather-Mosley and Cotto-Hatton instead.

He's a midget yet Cotto is a half inch taller then him..

It's not that he's not tall enough, it's that his body isn't made to carry it and keep his advantages, but thats why he came into the ring against Mayweather weighing 154 (Which he normallys weighs in on fight nights as a Jr WW)

Cotto will lose to mayweather if the fight happens and it will be all over sooner than the hatton fight.

and who has judah fought at 147? it doesnt matter that hes been there.... he too has only fought one real good welter and thats baldo, unless you count cory spinks who is by no means an opposing presence of which im takling about.

Just cuz mosley is good enough to fight at higher weights against bigger guys has nothing to do with the fact that hes a small fighter himself, and still doesnt pose the big welter dimension of a margarito, cintron, ect... even if hes miles ahead in terms of p4p talent.

urkal? he was a good sized welter... and its obvious cotto got fustrated in that fight... his punches didnt have near as much effect as they do against the smaller guys, though urkal is tough even for a 147lber.

my point is... neather cotto or mayweather have fought many big welters... so when we see them fighting at welter, USUALLY against guys that moved UP in weight in the first place... it doesnt look too bad, and we think hatton, who is smaller then both... should be able to do it too, but if we saw them fighting the big guys in the division we would be able to see that yes it does matter and hatton is way way too small for that division.

honestly, if there was ever a face off between hatton and margarito or cintron (and i think he would have a shot against cintron) it would look downright comical.

Just look at the picture of hatton next to floyd after the fight you can clearly see he is so much smaller in height width and overall frame.
But hatton lost because he hasn't got any evasive skill he would lose to any good fighter in their prime with a good evasive counter style.
I mean Collazo probably beat him i just think hatton hasn't the chin for WW power is all even though he did say mayweather wasn't the hardest puncher he fought i bet collazo was.

There's a point when you have to realise that the figures shouldn't matter. Hatton may only be a big smaller than Cotto, and weigh quite a bit, but using that same argument, you could probably say that Mike Tyson wasn't a true havyweight.

Hatton's body is probably more suited to 135lbs than 147lbs. Unlike Cotto, Mayweather etc., he has never tried to change his natural weight, so he is still a true 140lb guy.

His style relies far too much on his physical strength for him to be outweighed.

The same can be saiid for floyd in this fight as he didn't knock out or look like knocking out DLH and he couldn't carry any power over to 154.But against a natural 140lb fighter he can dominate i think both hatton and mayweather fit perfectly in 140 and 147 hatton can dominate 140lb fighters and mayweather can dominate 147lb fighters anything outside of that and they can't dominate.

For Floyd, Hatton weighed the same fight night weight that he is weighs 140.

Hatton must be the only boxer ever who goes from being a monster to being average by moving just 7lbs north.

of course, it's a load of bollocks...used by the Hatton zealots. Hatton is just a good fighter, not elite. He would struggle the same against a 140lb version of Collazo.
Basically, people ended up overrating him a lot after all those haldpicked fights.
