He could always just have his fights at 133, avoiding all the top Lightweights in the process. He could even call it the Gervontaweight.
Gotta be the name...sounds like an evil children's toy of a compact diabolical presence that can open fire that invades him room at midnight and tries to take him into the unknown..." Come with Davis we will show you the way".
He started showboating before he had thrown a punch. He looked so jittery and distracted between rounds and during the fight. He's a mental midget.
I'm starting to see shades of Broner and Gamboa with this kid. Explosive, fast, athletically talented but a complete head case with no plan B when the going gets tough. He'll go down the same path as those 2. I'm sure of it.
I want Tevin Farmer to chase a fight with him at 135 (I know he called Davis out at 130 and Davis dismissed it, on the strength that Tevin has "four losses on his record" and was seemingly not worth his time). I honestly think that Farmer would embarrass Davis, and then would probably be given short shrift on the scorecards.
Davis looked very beatable last night and moving up weights this early won't be easy, especially at his size. I believe If Davis wants to be a long term success then in my opinion he has to distance himself from Mayweather. I believe Mayweather will do him more harm than good, not because Mayweather is a bad person, sabotage him or give him bad advice but Mayweather is a one off, a freak, a young fighter can't copy, idolise or live Mayweathers lifestyle how it is now and be successful in my opinion. Look at Broner, he tried it and failed because you can burn it at both ends and have longevity.
I think Tank tanked out! He won his fight with an illegal blow behind the head, the criminal referee refused to enforce the rules....................that is the reason there is no instant replay in boxing, boxing is corrupt!
The Pedraza fight made me think Davis was a hype job. Pedraza was turning the tide not long before he was stopped. I thought the stoppage was premature at the time and felt Davis had gotten lucky. I saw the same thing on Saturday. Now, I'm starting to think this kid is a rough diamond being cleaned under the lights. As long as they keep him away from Lomachenko I think he can go on a tear at lightweight.
