True enough but, if they would of carried on fighting say o fifteen or the old 20 rounds Lacy would of been ktfo and he was near anyway by the 12th.

He might even of been killed by the tanking he was getting, a fighter can get ko'd and comeback and get revenge.

Lewis ko'd in 2 by mccall and then was schooling him until they had to stop it in the return. Any fighter can get a shot in (maybe lucky) and knock the other fighter out dosent necessarily make them the better fighter but when sme one is schooled it does.

Anyone can get caught cold in the early rounds:dead

To rephrase the question, which one was worse, Amir Khan gettin smoked in the first round or Jeff Lacy getting treated like a robin givens for 12 rounds?

Lacy got raped for 12 rounds has all but finished him as fighter and he will never be the same imo.

Khan just has no chin anyway so it was going to happen sooner or later the big diff is lacy was a belt holder and been built up to be the next tyson.

i would rather take a ko1 it means you just got caught doesnt mean your oppoent is better means you caught you..but a 12 rd schooling means you suck and he is better

I'd much rather get Ko'd in the 1st than get battered for 12 rounds and it be hammered into me for 36 minuates that nothing i did, ever, could change the outcome of a rematch. Obviously a schooling is worse than a 1st round KO.

    :good

i remember those tyson comparisons

maybe if lacy was KO'd in first it would've been mentally damaging but he might of bounced back. after those 12 rounds beating even if he recovered mentally he's physically ****ed

Much worse to get schooled over 12 rounds, IMO. If it's one round, you can claim a lucky punch, or that your feet weren't under you yet. If you get a 12-round schooling, then you have no argument except that you are the clearly inferior fighter.

Lennox was KO'd twice by "lucky" punches and cameback and schooled them

It could depend on how the loss damages the fighter mentally and physically. A quick KO may do far less damage than a beat down over 12.

1 round doesnt give much to go about. I remember last week people were arguing about different fighters and bringing up common opponents and arguing that because one guy KOed the shared opponent earlier that he would win head to head. Its a bad example. The big KO artists get the early knockouts but if you school someone for 12 rounds it shows overall better boxing ability.

Think of Trinidad-Joppy and Hopkins-Joppy, they both beat the utter **** out of Joppy, Trinidad just got the earlier KO because he was the bigger KO artist and puncher. Hopkins took the whole fight but still schooled him. Head to head it doesnt matter that Trinidad KOed the common opponent.

The guys who dont get the early KOs are use to going the full 12, guys like Hopkins and Winky. That can be dangerous because when the KO artist gets in there and doesnt get his expected early KO he is not as prepared to go the full 12. The weaker hitters KNOW they are going 12 and come in ready for it.
