Maybe because you have never seen Jeff Lacy fight before. Because anyone with a brain could see he that he didnt fight smart , or very skillfull.

If anyhting Lacy exposed Calzaghe. Wehn you have a size adavantage. Speed advantage and you beat someone from pillar to post and dont knock them out, you know you must have no punching power whatsoever.

 

So by your logic the 12 round ownage of Hamed by MAB just highlighted Barreras lack of power? Very interesting indeedatsch

 

atsch Thats not my logic at all. Maybe that is the best you can come up with but if you notice in that fight, Hamed could not keep up with Barreras technicla skill and straighter punches.

What Hamed was able to do is not get knocked out by taking the power off of Barrer's shots.

There was even an instance where Hamed just about did a "flying limbo move "

However, a quick KO can be seen as a fluke (see Rahman-Lewis 1)...A 12 round schooling will be seen as legit (see RJJ-Toney)

Yeah if someone gets schooled for 12 rounds they can use a much more viable excuse in that he came in the fight " flat "

" couldnt get in a rythm "

" couldnt figure out his opponent"

Getting ko'd in the first round...well you can use some excuses but fighters dont shake off chin accusations.

You get labeled chinny and you will carry that with you for a long time until you get beat up for 8 rounds like Judah . Than people will start to respect you a bit more.

Getting schooled for 12 rounds can be excused by simply saying " I had a bad night " . And the boxing world will let it go.

If Kahn says " I had a bad night" people will say " no you had a bad chin ".

 

had rick fought in rounds 5, 8 -12 same as he did in the first bit of the fight it would have been a awsome performance, shame the huggies steped in when Urango hit him finally.

stupid thing is, urango does hit like a train so shouldnt be 2 harsh.

to answer the question, i think a schooling, lacy is a decent example.

 

often times, people will consider a 12-0 win a schooling, regardless of how close each round was. Obvious you don't, I don't either, but most people do.

 

12 round schooling those tyeps of beatings stay with you forever.

The only honest way to answer this question is to think about which one you would rather receive...

I would rather get "schooled" for 12 rounds, such a term is inherently subjective anyway...at least you finish the fight and are able to give some sort of account of yourself, a display of heart...stamina, etc...

A 1 round KO rather is not subjective at all. I would have a hard time convincing people that "I wasn't ready," or something of that nature...not a whole lot you can say or try to spin on a KO1...
