What's worse - punch punch hold or punch punch push?

He used to fight like that when he was younger. Just sit there and roll with the punches and counter.

Maybe its because he is older and can't do what he did when he was younger. Stamina isn't quite there to keep rolling and throwing punches.

Overall, Floyd's not bad with it at all. The only fight I really ever hear people complain about it was when he fought Hatton...but I always thought that was his way of using Hatton's tactics against him.

:patsch D you also think steroids are part of the game. Fighters have been doing that for years.

Pushing, effectively stops the action, If the guy has a strong inside game trying to tie him up will not save you. Which is why Khan was pushing Peterson instead of holding him.

You are and should be allowed to push.

You can't haul off and shove a guy clear across the ring with both arms like a bench press, but pushing out with your lead hand? Of course that is allowed. Slippery slope, trying to differentiate between an extension like that and just a very slow jab.

If its a small push, the way Khan pushes someone across the ring takes longer than the average hold and breakup.
In general i agree, if its Khan i do not agree.

Way I see it its a way of neutralizing an offense. To fans its easy to say its spoiling the fight, but then they're not on the receiving end of the punches. I also think if a fighter is smart enough to tie up an opponent, then that opponent should also point out that pattern that is being used on him to neutrailze his offense. There are many ways to avoid a clinch or make fighters think twice about trying to clinch their opponent. So whenever I see a fighter using the punch punch + clinch or punch punch + push I want to see how the opponent handles it. I don't put full blame on the instigator.

    rather having pushing

it shows a want to fight and a reluctance to take a break

i feel to many fighters are content to be held or hold because they dont want or understand in fighting

i hate when a fighter keeps getting held and then eventually starts pushing the guy off after rounds of the trainer screaming at him to avoid clinches

though i say fighters should just learn to in fight

Post Cintron, Angulo was getting way aggressive when anyone tried to clinch. Anyone remember his fight with Gabriel Rosado, a Puerto Rican fighter that boxed very similar to Cintron and tried to clinch on Perro? That is one way to avoid a clinch!

Actually an Angulo vs Molina fight would be interesting. Clincher vs clincher destroyer.

Hold, but holding is part of the game. A respected part.

Honestly I am not that much against a push. It is a fight. If you can't shoot a shot on a guy squaring up to push you? I think that is your problem. Part of me thinks pushing shouldn't be a foul, but I respect that Boxing feels it is.

I think too much emphasis has been made lately on making Boxing all about throwing punches in space. Good for fans, but it lessens the sport as a practicable skill.
