What's wrong with Adonis Stevenson fighting on Showtime?

He was is scheduled to fight Fonfara in May on HBO. Showtime came by and said, "Hey, we'll offer you more money to fight on out network!"

Why the hell would he turn that down? HBO had an opportunity to match the offer and decided not to. That's their fault. Stevenson isn't just going to say "No that's ok. I'll fight Fonfara for less money."

And guess what happens if he wins? He gets a money fight vs Bernard Hopkins afterward to unify 3 of the LightHeavyweight belts.

GoldenBoyPromotions fighters are banned from HBO, but other promoters are allowed on Showtime. Kovalev can still fight Stevenson on Showtime. And I don't really give a **** about Stevenson, but all of you guys are always so quick to call a duck

Because the best fights in boxing continue to fall apart, and the fighters at fault need to start being held accountable. That's why.

In this case it is the network that should be held accountable for not taking the necessary steps to make the best fights in boxing.

BTW, Stevenson-Hopkins is a more lucrative fight than Stevenson-Kovalev, so I guess in the minds of most, Adonis is trying to make the best fight possible.

but he's 36 years old and only has a short period of time to make money. Regular people go to school and hold a job for 30+ years. Boxers only fight for 10-15 years if they're fortunate and only make decent money for about 2 or 3 of those years.

Stevenson got offered to fight the guy he was already fighting, but for more money on a different channel.

So HBO didn't want to air Stevenson's next fight, he can't shop his services elsewhere? Pathetic. Now we have TV network fans.

HBO was willing to pay more money than Stevenson originally agreed to fight Fonfara for on the condition he fight Kovalev next. Stevenson then went to Showtime instead.

Adonis wants nothing to do with Kovalev, sorry to say. I didn't use to belong to that camp and gave Stevenson the benefit of the doubt. He would've been paid handsomely, he just didn't want the risk of getting knocked out.

Stevenson and his team just went up to Hbo and demanded a last min increase in pay and Hbo said no unless he would promise to fight sergey next he refused and Hbo walked

HBO and Kovalev wanted to fight Stevenson after they both fought Bellew/Sillakh on the same card in Montreal but Stevenson wanted another 'build up fight'. HBO was willing to air Fonfara for that purpose but when
    This content is protected
which was what they had previously agreed on.

Haymon was just trying to gouge HBO for more money then would have been free to go over to Showtime anyways and fight Popkins instead of Kovalev. Can't blame HBO for not allowing themselves to be played for fools. Stevenson is free to fight Kovalev afterwards and i hope it happens but looking at his past behaviour anyone who expects that is gullible. The ****** is a coward.

He'd most likely be getting more money to fight Hopkins than Kovalev though. It sucks for us fans, but it is what it is. The networks need to sort their **** out and get over this cold war

Why should Stevenson have to agree to limit his future options just to appease Hershman and Taffet? Further Rafael makes it sound like it was HBO and not Stevenson who dragged their feet on any long-term agreement, so I'm hardly inclined to bash Stevenson for taking advantage of that situation. Anything they supposedly agreed to isn't worth much since HBO didn't have a contract and merely retained matching rights.

Of course Haymon was trying to get more money for his guy. That's what his job is. And while Stevenson could have still tried to make the Hopkins fight even if they aired Fonfara, they would have retained the negotiating rights for both that fight and Kovalev that they've now ceded.

HBO was going to broadcast the fight, on the condition that Stevenson agreed to fight Kovalev next.

You're on the wrong forum you need to find a place for other financial advisor like yourself to admire business deals and price gouging with.

I don't have to admire Haymon to understand that it's his job to make the most for his clients. And it appears he succeeded here since Hershman and HBO voluntarily gave up their matching rights in this instance. I'm not about to shed any tears for them just because this means they might not get the fight they wanted.

Adonis cannot waste his time with Kovalaev as he would have crush him and no American would care and now he is to fight Bernard so all America knows his face and we will not know of the destruction and pittance that Adonis is have and you and I both know how this forum is when evidence is presented to the contrary of all that they are saying about Adonis but he has said for post-fight interview and entrance that he will not take a ice bath on anybody without adequatary compensation and this is why your average boxing fan DO NOT KNOW!!! My friend!

PS: I wish to offer you a very plaisant labor day for you when you were spewed. That's a cool post bro, but we smart posters know why you're OK
with stevenson running over to Showtime. It's so he wouldn't get
his neubian as.s beaten to near death by a white dude. Isn't that
right? You're homies aren't doing so well in the higher weight classes
so i can see why you want to hang on the stevie. The "light heavyweight
champion of the world" <clears throat> uh, yeah.
