What's wrong with Adonis Stevenson fighting on Showtime?

It's not about him fighting on Showtime. It's about him trying to avoid a Kovalev fight.

The purse was already agreed upon for Stevenson/Fonfara when his team came back and asked for more.

HBO was willing to match Showtime's offer if he was willing to accept a fight with Kovalev in the fall. Stevenson didn't wanted the fight and he ran to Showtime instead.

This is the most legendary duck in years.

This is the typical stuff that goes on in boxing. This isnt about HBO not paying up its about stevensen ducking kovalev without appearing to do so come on now! this This is Floyd tactics 101.

IDK Geale turning down a Golovkin title shot on HBO because the UFC is holding a B-level card the same day...in the US...was very creative.

Don't really know how Showtime are going to pay him more & offer him the amount of dates HBO are, GBP/Haymon are fast filling the Showtime dates with big names who are all being promised top dollar & Showtimes budget can only stretch so far.
Espinoza could be about to bankrupt Showtime boxing.

The purse wasn't contractually agreed to, so it wasn't actually agreed to. HBO had the right to match any offer Stevenson received and chose not to do so. It was their decision alone and it's hardly Stevenson's fault for getting the most lucrative deal for himself.

I simply don't see how anyone can construe this situation as driven by fear of Kovalev alone when Stevenson pursued the best deal for himself. Risk/reward has nothing to do with it, only the reward part, which HBO freely chose not to match.

You know who also doesn't get the fight they wanted? Boxing fans.

So while Stevenson certainly has the right to pursue his future anyway he sees fit, we also have the right to lament about another in a long string of fights that is not happening because of the BS promotional company wars and network feuds.

They did chose to match, on the condition that Stevenson fights Kovalev. Stevenson declined. Risk and reward had everything to do with it.

Blame HBO. Don't blame the fighter for wanting to fight for more money.

The fighter is not at fault. The fighter was more than willing to fight on HBO, and they could've matched the deal but decided against it.

These "fans" just love to ***** for the sake of bitching. If they were in Stevenson's shoes, they would've taken the money. Why not?

Well, on the plus side, at least this frees up money from the budget to go towards GGG. HBO will be able to allocate enough to draw the top names to fight him now.

Small consolation given that Kovalev-Stevenson would've been one of, if not the, most anticipated fights in boxing this year, though.

Now that Stevenson has ducked KOvalev, the next question is, what excuse will Hopkins come up with to duck Stevenson?

I'm sure you think Stevenson should not only agree to anything Hershman offers him but also call him Massa.
