HBO wrote the book on playing people false. Just look at how they treated Sergio Martinez. HBO was a willing accomplice in the machinations that would rob Marinez of the WBC 160 title and hand it to Baby Chavez...

Stevenson Hopkins, if it happens, will be on PPV in Canada.

So, given this information, which fight do you think puts more *money* in Stevenson's pocket?

Two wrongs make a right? Was also a different management team at the time.

The whole Chavez episode was disgraceful in many respects, but that has nothing to do with Stevenson.

    WTF are you talking about?

I don't see anything "wrong" about going with the highest bidder. In this case Showtime. HBO could have made the Showtime problem go away by un-assing that money. They didn't.

Yes it most likely would. Both Hopkins-Pascal fights were on PPV in Canada, and this fight would certainly be bigger than those.

I see many in people in here defends Stevenson and said he did the right thing because he would get more money.

HBO told that the reason they didn't give more money for stevenson vs fonfara was because stevenson didn't wanna commit to fight kovalev next in a unification match for a lot of money and the fight fans wanna see.

They have tried to make this fight for a long time but it became more and more obvious that stevenson didn't want any part of kovalev.
CLEAR DUCK, and shouldn't come as a suprise if you seen interviews with stevenson when asked about kovalev, everyone with a brain knew when they heard stevenson signed with haymon the fight against kovalev wouldn't happen .
sadly for us real boxing fans.

Why should Stevenson commit to a Kovalev fight next when he can make that much more money fighting Hopkins?

Does the science of Capitalism not register in your brain?

    Not surprised. At all.

What does surprise me is that people don't see the trend with Stevenson.

You brought up HBO past dealings as if they were relevant.

Nevermind, I almost forgot - you are 100% troll, and #2 Haymon hugger. Something that seems to go hand in hand, fancy that.:think

I don't think the Showtime deal even has to include Hopkins to still be logical. What sounds like a better deal: taking $x and being locked in for your next fight or taking $x and having no obligations?

I hate the fact that Stevenson isn't fighting Kovalev, I think it's a very winable fight for him. Stevenson feels he needs to maximize his earnings now he's 36 and hasn't made that much money in his career. So he thinks by signing with Showtime he will get the big money Hopkins fight next. Sucks for boxing fans but he's looking to make the most money he can.
