There's still slavery around the world, but you wouldn't know that.

HBO was willing to match the Showhime offer if Stevenson was willing to take on Krusher. Stevenson want none of it.

If I was a fighter and I believed in my skills, I would take on Kovalev and prove to the world that I am the best. Stevenson didn't take the route with most money, the took the road with the least resistance.

Maybe some people would do that, but I'm sure a many would take up the challenge.

Just because you believe in your skills doesn't mean you can't lose or get injured to the point where it ends your boxing career. The Kovalev fight will still be there next year and if Kovalev keeps winning, then that fight will be even bigger. Why wouldn't you take some fights that pay you more in the mean time? If you wouldn't then that's not a very smart thing to do.

Seems like he's afraid of fighting Sergey Kovalev.

This is just plain out wrong. All reports indicate that HBO refused to match Show's offer and that is why the whole thing fell threw. I blame HBO, why would anyone fight for less? Also, the never sealed the deal gibing Show the ability to step in and sweep him away like they did Floyd.

Except the reports that state Stevenson demanded more money to fight Fonfara and wouldn't agree to fight Kovalev next.
Stevenson did exactly what he had to do to separate himself from a fight with Kovalev.
Stevenson knows what it's like to lose a fight by KO. He doesn't want to experience that again.

Once upon a time, Juan Manuel Lopez and Gamboa were around the same weight class, promoted by the same guy and both guys were quickly becoming stars. Arum, in a idiot move, decided to wait instead of making the fight. Guess what happened? Salido beat Lopez and destroyed a super fight.

And where are they today? Neither are stars. Lopez never recovered from that defeat and Gamboa's career went nowhere. Had they fought each other, the winner of that fight would've became a big star.

There are no guarantees in life, no set path. The only thing certain about life is uncertainty. Just because Stevenson moved to showtime doesn't mean he'll make more money. Hopkins could lose or get injured and not give Stevenson that payday. Stevenson could lose to Fonfara by freak KO or Kovalev lose to Agnew and we'll never get to see the fight and neither guy will become the star they want to be. For many, there's only one chance to change everything and that window of opportunity can close at any minute. We may never get to see the fight.

We are boxing fans. We want to see the best fight the best. We want to see fights like Pac-Mayweather and Kovalev-Stevenson, GGG vs Martinez, and fights like Gamboa-Lopez. If you don't, then you need to reevaluate yourself as a boxing fan.

YES! And Kovalev is the biggest threat to him as champion. He NEEDS to fight Kovalev NOW. He knows it too! He also knows hes going to lose.

Dawson beat Hopkins easily and Stevenson knocked out Dawson in one round. Hopkins looked slow and got hit flush more than I've ever seen him get hit by a Cleverly leftover.

Let's stop pretending a 49yo Hopkins is on the same level as Kovalev. He's not and you know it. The best opponent for Stevenson is not Hopkins, it's Kovalev.

I think Hopkins could beat Stevenson and Kovalev for sure.
