Froch wasn't in oakland & froch had fought on the east coast a few times in thrilling fights so there was no advantage

Dawson was in Oakland but dude had no fanbase & got booed out of his own city

Moral of the story is ward has not fought in oakland all the time. And he has fought in major major markets a few times so if he can find the right opponents La, new York Jersey or Atlantic city are possibilities in the near future.

Think another thing was that Kessler was willing to face Ward in the US but Ward didnt face Kessler in Denmark, Froch faced Ward in the US but Ward didnt face Froch in the UK

 

Another thing to add is that Wlad and Vitali were foreigners to the Germans, they practically fought on foreign land, Same with Abraham, another foreigner fighting in another country. Ward is an American, born and raised there, he is going to have an advantage since he is practically an American fighting in America. Wlad and Vitali were Ukrainians fighting in Germany, similar to how Golovkin is a Kazakh fighting in America.
