Does he rank high only in head to head matchups or all time, or both?

    Both.

I have him top 3 or 4 but I only include HWs that have viewable footage.

I only ask this question because it seems that he doesn't get enough credit all time wise, as say Lennox Lewis, which I think he should rank just as high IMO.

Lack of longevity and resume in terms of wins over other greats lets him down. HOFer yes, but I do think he's slightly overrated at times.

Yeah but he also doesn't get enough credit for the potentially great fighters that would of been great had he not been around in the 80's. He beat some talented heavyweights and they all came in great shape when he fought them. Spinks was the heavyweight champion and is also a all time great, and he destroyed him. He doesn't have longevity, now that your right about.

Given, Tyson was a hell of a puncher and took guys out with devastating combinations. Probably one of the hardest hitting heavyweights I've ever seen in my 58 years. My problem with him on an all time great list is, like previously mentioned, his longevity. He ran off a string of victories after the Buster Douglas fiasco, but from 96-05 his record was 5 wins, 2 no contest victories and 5 losses. Not exactly ATG credentials.

I don't think I'll live long enough to see another dominating heavyweight like Tyson was when in his prime and before Don King got his mitts on him. That was a big part of his eventual downfall in my opinion.

As for him beating Spinks, I made a $100 bet that he would get to him in the first round and KO him. Spinks didn't belong in the same ring as Tyson and that was the fastest $100 I ever made.

You only won 100$ for your bet?

Two premier heavys facing each other and you only get 2,0 odds for knowing the winner and round when it ends. :-(

You were really fooled with those **** odds

Mike before Douglas would give any heavyweight in history hell. His speed, power, tenacity would be too much for anybody to handle.

He's the biggest 'what coulda been' in HW history.

Exceptional raw talent and ability, crushing power, weak willed, finished too soon.

    :good This.

Mike had the easiest run to undisputed HW champ that any HW has ever had... the division was **** poor. His 'prime' apparently only lasted 2 years (86-88 ) and conveniently he wasn't prime anymore after his first loss.

Every other great fighter he fought beat him. Holmes was shot and old and Spinks didn't belong in the division... the enigma of Tyson lives on.

The guy whilst i love watching him.... never proved any sort of greatness to me :-(

  14. Mike was obviously on steroids.

Oh wait, he's African American. It's all natural. Ne'ermind, y'all.
