Watched this forum long enough that I can say everyone's got one. Care to admit to it? Personally, I'd admit I'm a sizist/modernist. When all things are equal, I do usually find myself rooting for the larger fighter, especially taller, although I can logically accept weight plays a larger role than height. Personally, I think logic suggests I'm right in this bias, and I also think it's fairly harmless, socially, (unlike many other biases I've noted) Personally, I also think most posters on here have a HUGE bias for nostalgiaism. People routinely think Ali would win every H2H fight even though he relied on his size in his era and would consitently be at a size and power disadvantage in this era, and even though every dominant HW champ historically has had either a size or power advantage over their peers. Anyway, if you dare, please admit to your bias, it will make for a more self aware forum.
What you seem to not understand about Ali and what made him great was speed and skill. Add to that an iron chin, crazy stamina and insane footwork for a hw and he gives just about any hw in history a serious problem and wins most of his fights. How are slower more plodding hw supposed to keep up with? Even if he doesnt have the power to ko guys he would simply beat guys to a pulp till they either went down or quit in their corner just ask Big George. I respect youre opionion but Ali isnt a myth, he was that good at his best.
British fighters. I tend to support British fighters in their fights against non Brits but i do try to remain neutral and honest in my view of whats happening in the ring, but sometimes i do have to make sure im not watching these guys through Union flag tinted goggles.
I like guys that come forward and throw. I don't mind skilful guys that move, so long as they engage. Huggers and runners need not apply for what makes me happy. Ironically I still support Wlad out of a mixture of nostalgia for his fierce younger version and for the occasional flashes of brilliance. But really he should be in the same bin as Ward, Ruiz, Hopkins. Mayweather also sucks balls, as does any other marathon runner. Brian Mitchell is an example of a clever defensive boxer that is an absolute pleasure to watch.
No lie, I used to always root against fighters that were NOT from America no matter what. Now I look at myself so many years later and realize that majority of the time . Im now rooting against the American fighters. Times have changed wow...
Knockout specialists and frontfoot fighters. I'm loving the savageness more than the game of boxing, as you should only play boxing on a pc or console and not in the ring in my opinion.
