It just turned 2017 and i clearly said 96-16. Agree with the last spot. My first thought was jones but his best wins were before 96 and hes been a mess for the last 10 years.
You are serious, but still wasn't reading the question right Tyson by 1996 was a shell of his oneself lol.
For me it's Thomas Hearns, Julio Cesar Chavez, Roberto Duran and Erik Morales. The first three were all way past there best by 2000, of course, but they were all still active, just about. They are also my three favourite boxers of all time and the reason I first got into boxing as a kid. By the late 90's however they were all in decline, my own life was increasingly busy and my interest began to wane. I didn't really see any boxing for about two years. Then I chanced upon Erik Morales and Wayne McCullough and really liked the look of Morales. Morales vs Barerra soon followed and it hooked me right back in. Morales is still my most recent favourite. It's actually a pretty good idea. I might just get one of these sculpted for the bottom of the garden.
You have to go for your favourites, surely. It's your Mount Rushmore after all. No way am I having a massive sculpture of Floyd Mayweather's head at the bottom of my garden, not for all the tea in China!
