Thanks Pug. It's been an absolute ****, mate. Never been so ill in me life tbh. But fightijg it like a beast my friend. Yes I've been watching a few of Joe's myself. Mainly the younger version of him, when NO one was living with him!
Don't forget Benitez, who outclassed Duran at JM but had the misfortune of fighting during the time of Leonard and Hearns
Yes sir. You can also say of the man that he would up his game when necessary, fighting a great fight against Norton, fighting back hard after being hurt by guys like the Acorn (Shavers), then Renaldo Snipes and Carl Williams. Then silencing the haters and doubters by sticking to business and destroying that great white hype Gerry Cooney. My most satisfying moment in the sport. "It's that Black/White thing again, I hate that ****". I loved him for that quote alone. p.s. Homes broke his right hand badly early in his career, and spent the rehab time perfecting his left jab.
Holmes, Witherspoon, Moorer... There's just too many fighters to list! Boxing just makes my heart feel warm.
Not necessarily the guy I watch the most, but I am fascinated every time I check out footage of Archie Moore. I often replay sequences to see how he sets up his opponent, how he deflects blows with the cross-arm and works offense off of it, how he varies his attack (he’ll kind of tap to the body sometimes, sort of get the guy used to it, and then you’ll notice a couple rounds later he’s thumping in those same shots with some mustard on them … that kind of thing). It’s like watching an encyclopedia. Not dazzling, but oftentimes absolutely brilliant.
I’m sorry you haven’t been well, Fergy. Good that you’re on the mend. Some of my go-to fighters are Holyfield, Foreman, Leonard, Jones and Chavez. But that’s the tip of the iceberg.
Holyfield, Frazier, Arguello, Hearns, Qawi are guys that I watch a lot of. I find myself rooting for them in fights where I know the outcome. Can watch those guys fight any day of the week.
