Guys, who are the fighters that are currently inside your Top 10 Pound-4-Pound rankings? I really think that in the past couple of weeks, also including this weekend, the ranking have been shaken a bit. Juan Manuel Lopez winning a title at Featherweight last week which is impressive, then just earlier today Valero proving that he is not just a power puncher but can fight elusively and smart. I rank those 2 inside the Top 10 as they exceeded my expectations. :bbb Some official rankings I think are a bit biased, I don't think Calderon and Donaire should make the top 10 due to inactivity. But instead Darchinyan and Wlad be rank high due to being fairly active. On top of the list, Mosely still deserves the no.2 spot since Floyd returning back after 2 years layoff and beating a fighter 2 weight classes below him (and still have to cheat on the weigh-in) will boost him immediately on the 2nd place. But if he beats Mosley this May, especially if Pacquiao losses to Clottey in March, Floyd will once again be back at no.1. But if both Pacquiao and Mayweather wins, it will be another endless debate unless the 2 square it off later this year. Here are my Top 10: --------------------- TOP 10 P4P FIGHTERS Updated Feb. 7, 2010 (including their last 3 opponents.) 1. Manny Pacquiao (Cotto, Hatton, De La Hoya) :happy 2. Shane Mosley (Margarito, Mayorga, Cotto) 3. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (Marquez, Hatton, De La Hoya) 4. Bernard Hopkins (Ornelas, Pavlik, Calzaghe) 5. Paul Williams (Martinez, Wright, Phillips) 6. Wladimir Klitschko (Chagaev, Rahman, Thompson) 7. Juan Manuel Marquez (Mayweather, Diaz, Casamayor) 8. Juan Manuel Lopez (Luevano, Mtagwa, Lontchi) 9. Edwin Valero (DeMarco, Velazquez, Pitalua) 10. Vic Darchinyan (Rojas, Agbeko, Arce) ------------------------------- Notable mentions (Top 20-11) 11. Miguel Angel Cotto (Pacquiao, Clottey, Jennings) 12. Timothy Bradley (Peterson, Campbell, Holt) 13. Nonito Donaire (Concepcion, Martinez, Mthalane) 14. Vitali Klitschko (Johnson, Arreola, Gomez) 15. Chris John (Juarez, Enoki, Caballero) 16. Hozumi Hasegawa (Perez, Rocha, Malinga) 17. Ivan Calderon (Mayol, Cazares, Dieppa) 18. Chad Dawson (Johnson, Tarver, Mendoza) 19. Israel Vazquez (Priolo, Marquez, Gonzalez) 20. Rafael Marquez (Mendoza, Vazquez, Mabuza)
well, I just don't think Calderon and Donaire should be inside top 10 unless they fight more than twice a year. Calderon has been rated too high, not to mention that his last three wins ended prematurely due to cuts. He should have lost to Mayol in the 1st fight. And his first win against Cazares is a razor thin decision.
both fighters are undefeated and both are 2 division world champs.. but i have a stronger case of JuanMa since he has beaten better opponents.
Valero though is a two-weight champion having beaten Pitalua and Mosquera for his titles. And his only other solid opponent was DeMarco yesterday, B- again. If he's going to get into the top 10, he needs to either beat somebody like Marquez or Bradley, or dominate the 135 and beat the likes of Katsidis, Funeka etc. He's not there yet.
So you are excluding Calderon and Donnaire for inactivity, but you have Mosley at two, despite the fact that Calderon and Donnaire have both fought twice (and in a few weeks Donnaire will have fought three times) since Mosley last stepped in a ring? You also have Hopkins who is fourteen months since his last serious fight. Complete inconsistency.
then it should also be noted that Ring Magazines ranking are inconsistent as they have Hopkins ranked too high.. they even have Caballero who is at #8 and his last big win is against Molitor, others are unknown. Things could still change and a win by Donaire next week will make me place him above Valero, pusing Darchinyan out of Top 10.
1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Floyd Mayweather 3. Bernard Hopkins 4. Shane Mosley 5. Chad Dawson 6. Juan Manuel Marquez 7. Arthur Abraham 8. Vic Darchinyan 9. Timothy Bradley 10. Andre Ward / Paul Williams Soon to be entrants: Valero and Gamboa.
You think Juanma and Valero have done more and beaten better opponents then chad dawson???? I understand that you don“t like Chad.. He is far from my favorite fighter either... But put him 10 spots below Valero and Juanma is incriminating
