I was a bit of a Hatton junkie back in the day and was at his 3 biggest fights - Tsyzu, Mayweather, Pacquaio They were all incredible events, although the fights themselves never lived up to the hype. Tsyzu fight was a mess but the result was amazing. Lost my voice the next day. The anticipation/build up was incredible - especially with everyone absolutely mullered by the 2am fight time. Great party atmosphere though.
You sure it wasn't Louis/Marciano? The way you rate them you'd think that you were at least from that era.
In person, Mayweather vs. Ortiz card was a sick one that had it all... The crazy drama of the main event, the Morales/Cano bloody bleeding cut, Adonis Stevenson one punching Savage in round 1, Crolla getting a SD win in a fight he won every round, Jessie Vargas vs. Josesito Lopez was a fun controversial close fight, and a guy making his debut named Cassius Clay (now 0-8). Going with the main event for me, for sure.
Chamberlain/Camacho is up there for me personally. atmosphere in York Hall was mental and so was the fight
? Where did that come from, lol. Not exactly on point. Anyway, they were Atgs with amazing accomplishments and impact, you can't overrate that. If you're talking h2h, though, I doubt they'd beat top level modern SHWs. But unlike you, I'm not a crazy irrational hypocrite. If Ali has any chance against a top level modern SHW, they would too. Smaller, movement based fighters have a terrible tract record against top SHWs, smaller fighters with power fare better. So, if one thinks an ancient atg has a chance against a top level modern SHW, Louis has a more rational case than Ali. Historically, dominant HW champs have been either (or both) larger or more powerful than average contenders. Ali was larger in his era but less powerful, now he'd be smaller too. It's just not rational to think he'd have a chance but other ancient atgs wouldn't.
I'm just joking around man. Chill. Have a beer. When we compare boxers from the past it's mostly subjective opinions. I think Ali would have made easy work out of Louis and Marciano, and his movement and speed was so top class that he'd give the SHW major issues. I don't see it with Louis and Marciano.
I think the Foreman that Ali fought would have stopped every HW in the history of boxing. But obviously styles do make fights.
Bradley v Provodnikov. The scenes they showed of Bradley wanting to prove he is a worthy welterweight champion after the first pac fight and talking about the amount of hate he and his family were receiving. Wasn't really feeling supportive of Bradley but I kind of felt for him. Then the FOTY with Provodnikov where he was hurt multiple times, it was just an awesome fight I didn't expect and he showed a lot of heart.
shoot me if im miles away but my favorite for being in the arena was WHYTE vs CHISORA, the fight was great to watch and the fans ringside were absolutely loving it, it was a neither pro whyte or pro chisora crowd so there was no bias, it was just fans just loving a purely brilliant tear up.
As far as greatest fight I was at: Ward - Gatti 1 Most meaningful fight I attended: Pavlik - Taylor 1
There are so many but I think it's Marquez vs Pacquio 4 with all the dramatic moments. Vitali vs Lewis live was also great but I was drunken at a party and was interrupted all the time while watching. some others Kessler vs froch 1 and 2 Calzaghe vs Kessler Abraham vs Miranda 1 and 2 Marquez vs Diaz 1 Martinez vs Williams 2 Marquez vs Vasquez 3 Live inside the arena it was probably Klitschko vs Pulev in Hamburg
