i like counter punchers. they're so sophisticated and their movement is scientific almost as if it were predetermined. that's why i like mayweather so much, his style is so scientific and sophisticated.
I like left hookers like florentino Fernandez, Carlos Palomino and Bob Foster but I also like slicksters such as Joey Archer Ken Buchanan and Joey Giardello. I was never a fan of Ali's style but Joe louis' stalking was superb to watch in my opinion
I like the slicksters you mentioned, ...throw in Billy Conn, Tommy Loughran and my man Willie Pastrano for good measure,...I dig the counterpunchers as well,....brilliant counterpunchers like Jose Napoles and the technicians like Harold Johnson, and Carlos Monzon, however you want to describe his style, and mechanics like Emile Griffith...I like all of these better than the sluggers and big bombers...hey, to each his own, y'know?
Most, if not all the fighters I listed were excellent counterpunchers...it's a big umbrella that includes many approaches.
Victor Galindez was an excellent counterpuncher...and so was Eddie Mustafa Muhammad...their bout was maybe not a thrilling slugfest, but it was a very interesting strategic battle between two great counterpunchers.
An in your face fighter who doesn't give you room to move. A Joe Frazier, who broke your body, then finished you off with the left hook.
