Personally I really like the guys style and think ability wise he has the potential to rule over the division, at worst #2... I thought he beat Froch quite clearly, and made him look crude. I also think it's a shame he has no marketability* and is relatively unknown to casual fans. However....what is wrong with this guy, complete mental midget? From the clearly faked self-KO against Abraham, to some of the other ridiculous lies he's tried to get away with *If he hadnt dropped out of the SuperSix under the expert advice of Dr. Shaw Hi, he may have more recognition by now.
He won me over in the Froch bout, I was one of the few (I would say) to actually enjoy his performance...started becoming a fan of his. Even whilst watching him in the Abraham bout, he was a joy to watch at times. Then all the shite happened. Not sure what my opinion of him is now, but I did pick him to upset Ward. Oh well.
Dont think it was a faked self KO. Hes extremely talented and a good boxer but the way he pulled out of the tournament is shady. I dont think Showtime would just let you leave without any medical examinations.
Don't think the KO was faked either.. Really good fighter, but too much bull****.. Hopefully now he will fight the likes of Bute, Froch rematch possibly..
Very good boxer. His style would give any fighter at 168 problems. I had him winning the Froch fight by one round however he would have won it by a landslide if he just countered more. He had Froch leaping in and swinging like an amatuer for most of the fight but he rarely threw counters. Showing good defense is all well and good but if you aren't going to punch then you aren't going to win rounds. It seemed like he learned his lesson however in the Abraham fight. He was much more active, even standing his ground at times and he gave Abraham a boxing lesson. Shame about the ending. Would like to see how he handles a good boxer like Ward or Bute or even a more fundamentally sound come forward fighter like Kessler. Abraham's style and the stupid way in which Froch fought are tailor made for Dirrel's style. Anyone know what hes up to now?
You can have all the skills in the world but if you don't have the mind... Lets face it he don't have the heart required at the top level, coupled with all the bull****, I am not surprised he is struggling to get the support he thinks he deserves. For me he potentially is the most skilled out the lot of them but...
Andre Dirrel is a dirty fighter. Just tak a close look to the way he fought Froach and you'll see what I'm saying.
He'd got some talent, but lets face it the guy is a ****ing mental job. he has probably one more chance to get a decent career but i reckon weird **** is going to follow him around, he might fight lucian Bute and jump out of the ring cintron style or something He's probably going to go down for his shenanigans rather than his skill set
Very good boxer, but a despicable personality. I think we'll here a lot more of him in the future, but I'm not looking forward to it.
He's one of the best fighters, his reflexes are uncomparable. Most defensive guys have a low punch output but Dirrell has a good defence yet he has a high punch output. He knows the ring like the back of his hand and he's really accurate. His ability to see punches coming and how he dodges them even when he's cornered is just out of this world.I thought he beat Froch and his position right now is very high.
A great talent with excellent athletism.. Just with an annoying personality, questionable will and maybe lacks some discipline
