I'm with you on this one. I was impressed against Abraham because he wasn't running all around the ring like in the Froch fight, which is not great footwork as some said at the time. But then, the **** hit the fan. I don't think he'll reach his full potential now, he has been inactive for too long. His brain is not as strong as his athletic abilities and at the top level, that shortens your ride.
I like him. Top class skills, very near unhittable when hes in the zone. In my opinion he beat Froch, and was putting on a clinic against Abraham before the DQ.
Talented, but clearly overestimated. The image that sticks from his fight against Froch is how he danced away from Frochs wild swings and nailed him with some clean, stinging counters. But Froch was catching him quite a lot, while not cleanly since Dirrell in many cases had sensed the danger and started to move away. But he did land. A faster and more accurate puncher would have busted him up. Ward can do it and Calzaghe could. Dirrel just aint got the heart or the boxing skill to go with his talent. He will never be a force to reckon with.
Very good the most talented with Ward in that division, i know British fans will kill me now but they hate him because he beat Froch!!
He's very talented. The kid does some great things in the ring, but I don't think his talent works very well with his head and no amount of Dr Shaw-Hi can fix that.
I think he has brilliant potential. His performance against Abraham was superb, and I think he was a clear winner over the Cobra. Hope he gets his head sorted and comes back with a vengeance.
Everyone has pretty much already said it. Very gifted fighter, but an obnoxious, annoying, mental case.
I thought Froch beat Dirrell pretty clearly, to me Dirrell embarrassed himself in that fight. I know people seem to think Dirrell schooled Froch, I've watched the fight a few times and I just can't see it. I saw running, holding, falling to the floor and 1 or 2 crisp shots every 90 seconds or so. I think thats the problem with Dirrell, hes just not that tough and lacks heart. How often do we see the guy just flop tp the floor or "slip"? We've seen it against Hanshaw, Froch and Abraham. Everytime the opponent gets going, suddenly Dirrell can't seem to stay on his feet. Hes got the physical gifts and has excellent technique when hes in charge. Thats about all. He reminds me a little of Victor Ortiz. Not the style but the mentality.
