GGG Spence Aj Canelo Crawford/Loma, yes I have both equally talented, need more fights to move either one up/down. The main reason for them being equal and for having Loma so far down is how badly he mentally struggled with salido, that's etched in my memory and beating him now means nothing unless aikido was allowed to fight as a ww with Loma coming in at whatever he wants. Additionally would also have to topple Mickey Gracie and Crawford to realistically move him ahead of those other fighters and possibly one day reach my top 3 My top 3 are completely etched in stone but I know one is reaching that point in fighters careers where any night can be your last at the top.. also, my 1 and 2 fighters will be swapping spots over the next year, should be a for sure, but it's still boxing
Thanks got doubling up, op asked for our top 5, as in FIVE. Hence, the reason kovalev isn't seen on my listi
Jacobs was his first close fight, harsh to hold 1 fight in which he still clearly won against him especially since you go on to stress the importance of dominance later in your post. Lomachenko, for example wasn't dominant against Salido even if you thought he deserved the nod. Here, I completed your top 20. 6) Smith Jr 7) Horn 8) Postol 9) Lemieux 10) Burns 11) Gvozdyk 12) Groves 13) Bellew 14) Fury 15) Briedis 16) Fonfara 17) Algieri 18) Beterbiev 19) Cleverly 20) Gassiev
It's hard to put them in order but to me the top 5 fighters right now are Golovkin, Lomachenko, Kovalev, Gonzalez, and Crawford (he's definitely fifth). Ward would be my sixth.
I think p4p lists really should be midget heavy even though I personally don't watch much of the lower divisions. Thats if we really do use the literal terms of the concept. This would give us a top 5 of; 1. Lomachenko 2. Rigondeaux 3. Gonzalez 4. Yamanaka 5. Inoue However, my own personal list not focusing on the weight would be; 1. Golovkin 2. Kovalev 3. Ward 4. Crawford 5. Thurman
Lomachenko by a mile. GGG, Rigo, Ward and Kovalev are old and on the downhill slide. Anyone who disagrees will probably reappraise after Lomas fight tomorrow. Nobody is boxing anywhere as well as Lomachencho is right now. P4p is all about naming the best current boxer. It has nothing to do with resume, record or greatness. It is a simple concept of recognising the boxer who is superior to all others right now. I don't go along with guys that say yes Loma looks good but he has only had 8 fights and needs to prove himself more. That a fair statement for an all time greatest list but has no bearing on current p4p lists. The best boxers right now are the younger guys Lomachencko, Inoue, Linares and Crawford. These guys all have crazy boxing skills but Loma is head and shoulders above all of them.
1-Ward 2-Kovalev 3-Gonzalez 4-Lomachenko 5-Crawford GGG just missed, drops behind Bud after the close fight with Jacobs.
