In a sport where an inch can be the difference between a miss and a knockout? Yes it is. The point is Pacquiao has a much more solid frame and longer reach than Lomachenko along with more power, but he was still small for a welter. Lomachenko lacks the physicality. If anything it's a testament to a person's skill when they are able to outbox bigger men with longer reach.
No hyperbole. I see the fight going 3 ways. Pacquiao delivers a sensational one punch KO. Pacquiao drops Lomachenko multiple times, feels bad, and carries Lomachenko to the final bell. Pacquiao transforms Lomachenko's beautiful face into a swollen bloody mess and Anatoly throws in the towel or the fight gets stopped on cuts. I literally see no path to victory by Loma (barring a freak accident like if Pac's shin bone shatters under the weight of his calves). No joke. This would be the only Pac fight where my heart isn't racing w/ nervous tension and anxiety.
very skilled fighter, but hes outside his best weight. if you judged him solely on what he has done at 135, and what he is going to do at 135, then he wouldnt even make the hof. hes a 31yo small lightweight in a division with some promising prospects about ready for prime time, hes running out of time.
Now I’m picturing a machinist using a giant micrometer to measure Loma’s reach down to the hundredth of an inch.
My favourite fighter at the moment. His style is exactly my ideal boxing viewing, smooth, skillful but also offense based.
You're either joking, wishing, trolling, all 3, or a combination of the three. Pac has almost always had a noticeable foot speed advantage against every opponent he ever faced. His footwork - something else altogether, is average at best. Both are come forward pressure fighters, but the big foot speed advantage has and even bigger footwork advantage he would have would make this one of Manny's worst fights and probably his worst because hes not in his 20's or even 30's anymore. Another major factor in Lomas advantage is that while they are both come forward pressure fighters, Loma is actually phenomenal defensively and that makes him as unique a fighter can get currently. He has much beyter head and upper body movement, better judge of range and better at controlling it, hes a much more layered fighter, hes got superior timing and accuracy, better ring IQ and generalship, makes better in fight adjustments....... I think the first 2-3 rounds would be competitive but Lomachenko completely takes over andndismantles Pac over the course ofnthe fight. Hes a speed demon that not even Pac can match. Actually, name.me one.fighter Pac faced who was noticeably faster than Pac as Loma would be against him. Pac relied on his speed to beat his opponents more than anything else, I'm not saying he wasnt great in other areas because he was, but it was his blazing speed that was the prominent factor in his success. In this fight his historically greatest asset isnt only not an asset, hes at a major disadvantage and I dont think he has the skills to make up for that disparity, I dont even think it would be close at this point.
He's one of the best ever. Regardless of what happens in the future, he will always be one of the best ever. 399-1 with two Olympic gold medals, fastest to hold a world title. The guy is a phenom.
My current favorite fighter. A highly skilled and high technical level boxer. One of, if not, the most intelligent boxer I've ever seen. Brings whole new dimension and innovation to the science and knowledge of boxing. A humble, funny and reasonable man outside the ring. Highly regarded by many former world champion boxers such as Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr, Kelly Pavlik, etc. A good friend of mine who is reporter for Fightnews and Boxrec once said to me that he is a 'perfect boxer'. Here are interesting articles I've found on web about him : - "How do you beat lightweight world titlist Vasiliy Lomachenko?" - Steve Kim (ESPN) http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...-lightweight-world-titlist-vasiliy-lomachenko - "The Genius Of Vasyl Lomachenko" - Chatri Sityodtong https://chatrisityodtong.com/blog/martial-arts/the-genius-of-vasyl-lomachenko/ The fact that there are so many threads and discussions that pro or anti to him indicate that he is a real deal. More people like and support him, but of course more people who dislike him and wants him to lose.
Agreed! At this stage, weight will be his biggest obstacle. Father time will be his next. Hopefully not for a few years yet.
Ive said and believed this for a long time, Tank Davis -- if he trains his ass off and comes in in his best form is the worst matchup stylistically for Lomachenko, he and Mikey Garcia but let's be real that one probably doesn't take place. I also think Shakur Stevenson develops into a great fighter and undiaputed top 3 p4p fighter, probably p4p #1. There is a short if not impossible of them fighting when Loma is prime and Stevenson is ready but if it did happen and Stevenson was prime oe close to it, he Tank, and Garcia are the only three fighters in the world I believe will actually have the chance and ability to win a fight against Lomachenko. Garcia DEFINITELY has the skill, size, and power to KO Lomachenko. I wouldnt favor any of the three to beat Loma but stylistically I see them as being the worst out there for him and based on their talent, pedigree, and skill they all have a very real chance at beating Loma. Its unreal the idiots who see two Teofimo Lopez fights where his opponents were brought in to get ****ed up spectacularly actually believing and predicting he knocks Loma out. Lopez at this stage is all flash and little substance. Conversely Garcia has always had little to no flash but loaded to the gills in substance. They are both much bigger naturally and both have tremendous power, but the difference between the two is that Mikey is an infinitely better counterpuncher, is a much, MUCH smarter fighter, has superior timing and accuracy, is leagues better than Lopez as far as skills, technique, fundamentals, and technique go, all but certain he has a much better chin thats been way more tested against way better fighters and way bigger fighters, more experienced at all levels, against elite opposition, against most if not all styles, and against world class fighters who have the natural size, height, reach, speed, and power advantages over Mikey. I dont think people realize how special you have to be as a fighter to beat world class fighters who hold some if not all those advantages over you. 5 weight class world champ and hes been toni g up world class and elite fighters for years upon years even with 2 years away from the sport. Oh, and defensively he makes Lopez look like a scrub. ALL THOSE, which are hugely important to a fighters success, those are what differentiates what Lopez is right now(a career ending plane crash type of fight where Loma doesnt even break a sweat) and a legit 5 weight champion top level p4p boxer who has a very real chance right now of knocking Loma out. Not to mention Garcia has earned the right to fight damn near whoever he wants and if they want the fight too. Oh, and Mikeys team of trainers and handlers dookies all over Lopez' ram of yes men attention ***** sellouts. I hope he(Lopez) surrounds himself with the right and best people in boxing from this point forward, honest guys who are real and say what needs to be said not what the fighter wants to hear. I hope he stops pretending to be Floyd Mayweather, it's cool he idolized him as a boxer, ow cant you? But be your own man and carry yourself with some class, humility, humbleness, begin owning your mistakes, and instead of your pathetic post fight actions against beaten opponents and the controversy/media attention that gets him and makes him money, work your ads off and then work some more, keep getti g better nd improving and dont one dimensionally fall in love with your power, and gain fans with your integrity, honor, and class in and out of the ring and sell your fights because of your performace and substance as a top fighter against the best opponents you can face against the guys who will make you work for every round and make you build up resilience and fight through adversity. If he can do those things and I hope he does, I'll really like him as a fighter and man(not that he cares) but if he did those things he would end up a much greater fighter and be far more respected inside the ring and out of it.
What is it? Power? Does Manny have way more than enough to knock Loma.clean out? Ya, but doing it is a totally different thing entirely. As greata fighter he is/was the one factor that made him great against all of his others was his speed. What happens when for the first fight in his career he fights a noticeably faster fighter? Name some in fight adjustments he made in fights where his speed a d power didnt totally overwhelm his opponent? Defensively he is average, the best aspect to his defense waa his offense. He always had trouble with slick fighters and Loma is slick as ****. Slicker, better mover, I mean everything I listed, he literally has so many advantages its not funny. You think Loma would come straight at him and go toe to toe? No, he'd circle away from pacs power hand all night and hed be the one showing and applying angles to Pac due to his superior foot work and foot speed. Hes not jumping in and out landing combos against a big flat footed powder here, Loma would ve all over the place and Manny would rarely if ever get the opportunity to plant his feet and throw with some heat. It would be Loma jumping in and out against Pac and running circles around him showing him angles not the other way around. Fans get way too caught up in power. Unfortunately there is so much more that goes into winning a fight. List one example of Pac successfully being a counterpuncher, because he wouldnt and couldnt dictate anything in this fight. He beat a ghost(and that's being generous to the term ghost) of Matthysse, I thought he beat Horn but officially lost, and beat Adrien Broner but was pretty sloppy in victory. So what in his last 3 outings leads you to believe he should even be in a ring with this kid? Power and name. There's literally nothing else you can point at. And why take it for Loma, he wants to challenge himself against the best opponents he can get and become the best fighter he can be while cementing a great legacy. He already went this route with Rigo, wby would he fight a well past it great when all his detractors not only wont give him credit, they will dock him points for fighting a 40 year old past it great, hes not learning anything or becoming a better fighter because of this fight. So why? And look, this vaunted power everybody overrates the **** oit of, to land it he needs to plant his feet to throw that power, which he always had trouble doing with movers and that was when he was prime or close to it, or he has to be a counterpuncher, time Loma coming In, use Lomas forward movement against him, and be in the right position to do it because as stated thats the only other way for him to plant his feet against Loma to throw with enough power to hurt him. Sorry to say, hes not turning into some surgical counterpuncher with a great sixth sense and anticipation to pull it off, not this late and past it and not against this opponent. You dont know what your talking about. Size and power are important but only if properly used. His power would be a nonfactor I think and even though hes naturally bigger, he doesnt fight big and would maximize it and get the most from that advantage, Salido did it perfectly, it was a stick up the moment the idea of fighting Loma became a possibility and he and his team cheaply(and cheated) but took max advantage of that big advantage between that and the fouling je was aloud to get away with. He fought close to a perfect fight and caught the kid in only his second pro fight so he was too green and inexperienced to effectively neutralize, adapt, and adjust until it was too late. Manny is the way better fighter than Salido, but no wat he could have had a better gameplan and executed it better and he sure as he'll isnt doing it at 40.
P4P #1 and it isn't even close at this point. Comes back from major shoulder surgery to unify - no warm up fight, to test his shoulder repair, etc. Steps right into a unification, his second straight unification at a new weight, and idiots on this board have the temerity to call him a bun and overrated....LMAO learn to watch the sport and understand it sometime.. NO ONE has ever accomplished what he has,,,,in 13 fights..
