He seems a very open to counter and does'nt have much regard for defense and he telegraphs his shot, I think Pep would clown him, great strength and power though.

he also seems too hot headed

He was certainly hot headed. That was his downfall.

Your point about his defence could be argued to be borne out by the maner of his eventual demise, but I asume that he must have been hard to hit cleanly or else he would have come up short earlier.

This is not the best footage to judge him on for obvious reasons.

He was genuinely psychotic. Regardless of his personal flaws though he did KTFO some really good quality boxers and defensive fighters.

Palmer, Erne, Dixon, White, and Sullivan were all pretty good boxers, some of them renowned for defensive ability. He swarmed over all of them, blasted them.

I'd assume it was that he could just take a good punch.

No the video show his approach and temperment.

Being able to take a good punch will only get you so far against technicians with serious power.

Remember that some of the cuties could bang back then.

Well I think the video shows his style and temperment and thats just the way he fought and no different, and the ringside reports suggest it to.

Some of the guys he steamrolled were regarded as defensive marvels, and some of them could punch.

look I can only make a assement with the footage that we've got and I stand by the points I've made and I don't think anyone can say that they are not fair points.

I am not saying that they are not fair points.

I am more than questioning your choice to make the assesment based on the footage you have got.

Would you judge Muhamad Ali's entire career based on the second Liston fight?

 @ pointing out McGovern's technical flaws as it were some kind of detriment to his efficiency as a fighter.

Are those the fight reports where the Floyd Mayweather of the era sudenly found himself taking a count in the first round?

What have you picked out of them?

about his style, he was extremely strong, had one punch knochout power, was relentless and tough, a bulldozer in the ring, no mention's about great defensive abilitie's or great ring craft.

There the general common descriptions that come up,

So why didn't Joe Frazier or Rocky Marciano go through the top defensive fighters of their era so quickly?
