I think the kid is back. He looks as good as ever. I think under Garcia his hook is greatly improved, but I think this fight would have been alot easier if he would have used his #1 best combination more...the 1..2. I hope under Garcia this doesn't get anyway from him. WHat do you think?
I think you were beat to this thread by a couple of minutes. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=415249 Not doing both. I'm too depressed.
The movement bothered him tonight, but he acknowledges things need to be worked on, that's a good sign. I don't give him a great chance against the Super 6 crew, but I've been impressed with his "comeback" performances overall.
His opponent didn't co-operate and moved well.Kelly just couldn't corner him.Pavlik has to fight guys who go toe to toe as clearly movement gives him real trouble. Not bad but not a great performance.
My view of Kelly Pavlik is that he still has all the tools needed to become an elite fighter again. However, the one thing that is the fact that he is lazy at times. Right now, Pavlik is nowhere close to performing at the level he was in 2007, when he was the Fighter of the Year.
He's nowhere close to what he used to be (and I don't think he can ever recapture some of that form.) Those people saying that he should fight Jr. are crazy. Chavez Jr would wreck him at this stage.
He would likely suffer a mid-rounds KTFO against Froch. Kessler would just outpoint him wide and beat him up a bit along the way. Ward would own him in humiliating fashion (worse than Hopkins), but he wouldn't be hurt by it. Chavez Jr. would wreck Pavlik horrifically and probably shorten whatever's left of his career in the process. Chavez is an accumulation puncher, and Pavlik's got a good chin, so he'd stay in there and get whupped on for a long time. That's why Chavez Jr. is the worst fight for him health wise on that list.
