Whatsup with the wide disparities on Clottey's talent level?

I know everyone has differing opinions on specific fighters ----its natural part of being a fan. Floyd is either the greatest fighter since Ali, or a ***goty-ass fraud pansy-chicklet cherry picker. Pacquaio is a hulkmania midget on angry hyperdrive god or a roided up cheat and fraud.

But it seems with Clottey people don't seem to agree on how GOOD he is even after having a few big fights.

Some people say-- Many Clottey is just a straight ahead-plodder with earmuffs and average at best. Others-- an elite talent in the division.

Well which the **** is it?

For all his intangible/mental/style flaws I can't for the life of me understand how people don't at least recognize the RAW talent Clottey has. Speed and explosiveness-wise.

Yes I think he'll get to pacquaio-- and I'm interested to see how Pacquaio handles a blown up WW.. which Cotto certainly was not.. with good talent. Mentally? Is the reason Pac will pull it out. Too much of a winner, a fighter till the end.

He's decent. A championship class fighter who falls short against the best guy he faces. Good handspeed, good combination punching, decent defence. He's a bit stiff, and switches off when he feels he's in control.

No elite, but definitely very good and a decent fight for Pac.

I smell this turning into another Floyd vs Manny thread

Clottey is a formidable opponent for any WW, after all he has never been decisively beaten. Good power, granite chin, IMO he's a good WW. Only WW's who would be favorites against him are elite; Floyd, Shane and Manny and maybe Williams

    Good fighter, not great though

Clottey is a solid fighter (just not a champion) however he has a tendency to tire in the second half of the fight. Clottey looked very good against Cotto, however I think it had more to do with Cotto being damaged psychologically from his brutal loss to Margarito.

Obviously your refering to Williams workrate.

Problem is Williams has so many holes for the accurate Clottey to counterpunch that..

*EDIT* it could do some real damage

Clottey is tough. The Floyd fans want to make it appear he is terrible to downplay the Pac-Clottey fight, so as not to make Floyd-vs-TBD look like a complete mismatch in comparison.

He has good defense and I rewatched the Marg-Clottey fight and he schooled him for the first four rounds but broke his hands and wasn't the same fighter after round 4. I like the Cotto fight but felt like he didn't do enough to win in the later rounds. People forget he beat Corrales or probably discredit that because that wasn't Corrales at his best but Clottey is very good but not great and a problem for anyone.

    Speed- very good
    Power- Average
    Punch Resistance- Elite
    Explosiveness- Very good
    Defense- Good
    Intangibles- Average
    Stamina- Average

    Disagree? where.

That flash KD in the Cotto fight didn't even buzz him keep it real bro.

how can his punch resistance be elite??it may be but we dont know that yet..who has he fought that is elite (other than when he was floored by cotto??)

clotteys a good decent fighter im not disagreeing with that
