Recently I was debating the resume of PBF with another fan. I stated that he beat 3 p4pers in the last 4 fights. But the debate went in a whole different direction when i listed SSM, JMM and Hatton and the other fan questioned the legitimacy of SSM and JMM. He basically claimed that Ricky was better than both and his win over Zoo was superior to the draw JMM had with Pac.

First, I think Pac is better than Kosta
Second, Manny was/is in his prime
Third, the tac tics Ricky got away with would have never happened anywhere else on the planet, i still think Ricky wins but it takes away from his win
fourth, to get up off the deck 3x and comeback to get the draw with PAC. I am a Huge Pac fan and remember sitting on pins and needles waiting for the score cards.

My question is JMM draw more impressive then Hattons win?

no, hattons win was more substantial because it shot him up to be a bigger star...he beat the legitimate 140 champ...

getting a draw in a fight that you fought your way back into is pretty impressive as well, but according to the scorecards, if that one judge scored the first round correctly..it would have been a victory for manny and not a draw... so i'd say hattons win over kosta was better...

    They're about the same.
1st, the draw was not really a draw, it was a judge's error which made it a draw which he admitted to later. Otherwise Pac would have gotten the nod.
2nd, don't be impressed by fighters beating other fighters that are on the p4p list when they aren't from the same division. This is some GBP propaganda made to sell the Hatton/PBF fight. Beatings on little guys is just that, regardless of p4p lists. PBF's win over shane is better than his win over Hatton because Shane was the real welterweight champion.

I agree but the point was the legitimacy of the fighter as a claim as p4p. I know the judge scored the round 10-7 and not 10-6 round but I remember think when I was watching the fight thinking Pac was lucky to get that draw. How in the hell can he be lucky to get a draw with 3 knockdowns? Also, had trouble scoring a round for Manny after that round. I really have to go back and watch that fight again

The fact that JMM-Pac was a controversial, but not all that controversial draw speaks volumes about how well JMM performed after getting dropped 3 times in the 1st...but another - and lesser - ref would have stopped that fight in that round.
