to someone does this always mean that the other fighter will be ranked better in the ATG P4P list

    For example

Hatton's lost to PBF everyone seems to have it set in stone that PBF will, no matter Hatton does, always be ranked higher than hatton even if he beats Pac, maquez, all his division and superman.

What if it was just one of those nights where it went wrong.

What if when sugar ray robinson lost he didnt get his chance to avenge the losses would turpin/ Fullmer/Basilo be ranked higher than him?

    (Something to think on)

p.s. im expecting to get stick on this lol :bbb

When a fighter lose against Pac. They are automatically labeled as shot, weight drained, old, bums and no ones.

    No.

Roberto Duran was beat by SRL, Hearns, Hagler, Benitez... even the likes of Kirkland Laing. Yet, people rank him over all of them.

IF a fighter lost, considering in a brutal manner. They will be called bums and weak after all the good talks of the fans here. That's how boxing is.

Just see Pacquiao - Dela Hoya

Of course, depending on how his career plays out. Wins over Tszyu, Pac, and Marquez would be pretty damn huge. Although the way that boxing fans are today, they love to let fighters piggy back off of what other fighters have done. They don't understand different circumstances or that styles make fights, ect....

No the ATG P4P lists should look at fighters when they are at their prime. Beating to someone at the end of their careers does not make you better than them overall. For example Ali ranks above Holmes, Jones jr above Calzaghe etc.

There are probably other circumstances too when beating someone wouldn't put you above them on the list.

Fighters are generally judged on their careers overall, rather than against one fighter in particular.Sometimes a schmoe will have a spell over a great fighter. Willie Meehan was a chubby club fighter that Jack Dempsey struggled against on a few occasions. Ken Norton arguably won all three of his fights against Ali, but not even Kens best friend would rate him over Ali overall. Sandy Saddler won 3 out of 4 against Willie Pep, but Pep is rated higher on the ATG scale. Geeze would you consider Buster Douglas greater than Mike Tyson?

A classic point here would be Junior Jones and MAB. MAB is an ATG and yet Junior Jones isn't even in the vicinity of the TOP 100. Mab though got KTFO by Jones.

There's also a case of styles making fights. Morales looked horrible against Raheem, but do any of you even consider Raheem as an ATG?

Hatton will NEVER be regarded as an ATG by the majority of boxing fans. He will get into the pathetic HOF but only because every boxer who has ever fought will eventully end up in there...

i dont think hatton is better than floyd btw i was just wondering from a different perspective.
the " Ricky Hatton beats Pacman,Jmm, Bradley/Holt winner then Mayweather to become ATG " thread made me think this because it was more focusing on Mayweather than if hatton did that i think he would get above mayweather and be inclined to suggest it was just a one off that he lost to mayweather (as i dont think he can beat pac/jmm).
