People hate fat fighters even if skilled. They loved Butterbean because he was funny to see, he was a circus phenomenom, but not credible as HW.

Fat slob Ruiz can only dream of what those guys accomplished. Ruiz could have been a somebody if he was dedicated.

Ruiz wasn't robbed. It was a very close fight with the home advantage tilting it in Parkers favour, which is common in boxing.

His win against Joshua is impressive. Can he replicate that though? The rematch indicated no, and he couldn't KO an ancient Ortiz.

I was big on Ruiz early on slightly before Parker fight time but I feel he gets too much credit now. After a few disappointing performances. Sparking Joshua is both the best and worst thing to happen to his career.

If Fury is the burger King, then Ruiz is the dairy queen.

This fight should've happened by now as there were supposed to be no promoting obstacles. They clearly are cautious of each other and have to drag them in the ring.

Fighing 1 round per year is not exactly polishing Wilder's skills, and one fight per year is not keeping Ruiz in shape.

    This.

Also when he starts respecting the sport and his fans. Showing up, the way he did, to defend his titles against Joshua is not excusable.

True, people see a fat guy and they think its some lazy weakminded slacker. Sure it was fun to watch him upset AJ but he ruined his homer simpson moment by getting even fatter.
Its also why AJ got more respect from people than Ruiz or Fury despite getting beaten several times.

So exactly what is the disrespect? That he isn't listed as a P4P fighter? That he isn't top 3 rated heavy weight?

Cause he is not. SO I don't get what this disrespect is coming from.

Eh but we can say the same for some people on here hating on bulky fighters, like AJ. :D

Ruiz in his best shape, aka AJ 1, and even in AJ 2, as he was obviously a lot heavier, but that helps him took big shots, is a solid fighter.

But to be fair i don't see the same Ruiz, and the same hunger to eat huge punches, and then counter with his own.
I didn't see that against Ortiz for example. He looked a bit scared to be fair.

He's got great speed and could box well for his size, but he's not a real heavyweight. He should be campaigning at CW, but he's not disciplined enough to put the hard work in so he's stuck overweight in a division he doesn't really belong in.

yeah honestly the whole being mad at the guy for not having that AJ bod seems like closet case issues to me.

bodybuilding is already a different thing that exists. as are every other weight class in boxing, where the guys all look relatively the same.

heavyweight boxing is where the fatties come to fight, and they often demonstrate WHY boxing has weight classes.

Ruiz is an accomplished lifelong athlete who competes at the upper echelon of his pro sport. and a bunch of cornballs posting on a message board think he's "lazy."

i think people "disrespect the sport" when they call a guy who risks his life in the ring, and often comes out on top, "fatty" or a "tub."
