i pick this as a close fight....calzaghe must be careful he doesnt just let those hands go all night because B-hop is a very, very good counterpuncher....i dont think B-hop is going to be to afraid of Joes power so i an see him taking a few punches to figure him out before he starts timing that overhand right.....

    go B-Hop!

Hopkins would Maul Kessler, who I really like, but has no inside game. And as Calzaghe showed, he (kessler) can be a bit predictable, which you cannot be with BHOP.

And no one has an easy fight with Winky, Calzaghe would not either.

Yeah that's how I see it too.....close fight. 6 years ago it wouldn't have been, and don't think Calslappy doesn't know that, which is why he's getting all keen on taking Bernard on all of a sudden. Transparent as ****, just like the rest of Joes career

I wouldn't argue it. I like BHOP. I already name him number 1 middleweight ever.

That was me mate, and if you have been watching it that long you haven't been paying attention. If Joe KO's Hopkins in 8 rounds I'll leave this board and bow to your better knowledge....but he won't.

Calzaghe was calling out Tarver before the BHOP-Tarver fight, so obviously if Joe wanted to fight him, he must have been great:yep

Just like the rest of this murderer's row:

    Sakio Bika
    Byron Mitchell
    Evans Ashira
    Peter Manfredo
    Mario Veit (twice:rofl )

    Tokker Pudwell
    Karbery Salem:deal

Yep, someone on my wavelength right there...nice to know I wasn't the only one watching closely.

Calzaghe fights bums, simple as that. I hope to hell he's underestimated old Hopkins right now, cos nothing would erase Joes **** legacy more than getting owned by a 43 year old :good

Exactly. Hopkins would easily be consider the greatest MW of all time, if he did it, I think.

The fight isnt going to be at middle. If he beats Joe he will be one of the best ever of all time and not just in MW.

Depends on the quality of the win,if he has the ref pulling Calzaghe off every 3seconds like some drunk girlfriend then not much.

If Bhop beats Joe. Bernard will be a true ATG. Top 25

Meanwhile Joe will still be great ..in the little town in Scotland where he's from

i think calzaghe will win. one thing is certain, this will be a fight for boxing fans indeed. the fact that each guy is a master at changing their plans to win, will make this an interesting battle.

but also you guys backing hopkins to win have to admit you have the comfort of the age excuse don't ya? i mean you can say hopkins is gonna do this and that, but if he loses - and loses badly, you all will just say hopkins is an old man. just look at his age! he'll be half way to 44 when he fights a much younger great fighter.

i have to agree with some hopkin fans about workrate. joe can throw 1000 punches per fight and make them fast and hurtful to boot, BUT against elite competition such as against hopkins or kessler etc, that workrate will naturally be reduced quite a bit.

calzaghe threw a lot less punches verses kessler because he quickly realised what he had in front of him. with hopkins mastery at dirty/frustrating fighting mixed with sneaky fast lead rights, calzaghe will reduce his workrate to avoid taking stupid shots.

nevertheless, hopkins showed his age by having a close fight with winky wright who is a natural junior middle who jumped up 3 weight divisions and was never a feared puncher as a junior middle to begin with! calzaghe is not a scary puncher, but he hits harder than b-hop as his knockouts have all been against super middles while hopkins has ko'ed middles.

hopkins also fought tarver who is also on the Senior Tour. not to mention seemed like he bored shitless in the fight he was losing soundly.

no, while anything can happen in boxing, i think calzaghe will win by UD/KO etc. hopkins might even lose points for holding etc. when he feels the age difference and the fear of being ko'ed for the first time ever.

I know the fight won't be at middle, but I think it will raise Hopkins overall status there, nontheless - when people think of Hopkins, they will think of him primarily as a middleweight, and those will be the lists he will typically appear on.

But, of course, it will raise his overall status, too.
