John is a waste of space

 

And he's still rated #1 by everybody -- Ring, ESPN, TBRB. The longest reigning titleholder in boxing. That's real cute dude, but Man Up.

 

Like GBP owns 140-154, Top Rank basically owns those lower weights down there. Most notable opponents from Super Bantam to Super Featherweight are Top Rank fighters. So Mares is basically stuck with some no names unless GBP and TR can do business again or Mares leaves GBP for TR.

 

Chris John is 48-0 and still doesn't have a career defining win. You could chalk up the Marquez "win" as an actual loss. No way John won that fight, it was a schooling even with the 2 BS points deducted from Marquez. Any one who saw that fight knows Marquez was against all odds.

Seems to me like his signature wins are Rocky ****ing Juarez and Derrick Gainer. Pretty sad resume.

 

We talk of Mares potentially being with the likes of Barrera, Morales, but what about fighters like Miguel Lora?

 

I'm not ready to lump him anywhere, but his talent combined with IDGAF mindset regarding opponents could pay real dividends.

 

I like Mares but "Happy" Lora would take him to school.
