I have been boxing for about a year now and I was wondering when I can expect my first bout?

Depends on your opponent. I was lucky to have someone that was scared shitless so I just overpowered him. Showed no skill at all.
Most people tend to forget everything they learned in the gym and..........brawl.
    just try to stay composed.

Remember everything they told you at the gym? All the things you learned? Yeah, you forgot all that.

I think the above posters are just trolling, but if not, OP wants to know WHEN he should expect it.

I had mine after 8 months training. Some will take less time, some will take more time. But ye what was previously stated, ask your coach man. If you've made it clear previously that you want to fight, and he hasn't mentioned anything to you that may be a sign your not ready. Don't be disheartened if your not ready yet tho bud. Kepp at it :good

a year and you havent fought yet? honestly you havent been boxing for a year you been exercising on a boxing gym for a year is two different things.. you probably will never get a fight in that gym.. if they dont trust you enough to put you in the ring after a year it'll never happen... most boxers fight after a month or two max three if they are slow learners or pussies

strongly disagree my friend. Not all countries host Boxing events often, some countries only host big events every 6 months and fight lists are usally full from 3 months before

are we talking pro boxing or amateur.... an amateur boxing card only every six months then no good fighters will ever come out of those countries when fighters can only fight twice a year...

had mine last night and ive been training semi seriously since june/july with time off for a holiday. Although i have some previous experience before hand but after the last 2weeks i realise that was nothing compared to proper training

Who the hell is gonna be ready to fight after 4 weeks training? thats just rediculous. If you havent trained for a year, how long does it take you to get fit again? Longer than 4 weeks i reckon!! But you think someone can get fit enough to compete, oh and learn how to box in as little as 4 weeks?

You can't even begin to call yourself a boxer after 3 months and definitely shouldn't be competing, coaches who throw people into the ring that early just do it because they either have too many fighters and don't want to spend time training those who don't have the heart to take a beating, or they simply don't know what they are doing.

To the OP, the reason you haven't had a fight yet is almost certainly because your trainer doesn't realize how much you want one, let him know.
