last weekend we saw a mild example of cherry picking fighting a older guy who hasn't fought in months in order to establish yourself on the world stage. heres a few more that spring to mind.

Andre Berto vs Ortiz-AL-hamon brought ortiz along, so berto would look sensational instead ortiz looked like king kong, and actually showed heart. berto was beaten up and bullied for the last 6 rounds of the fight.

Victor ortiz vs Josito lopez-lopez spent his entire career at 140 and it was his first time fighting above it in a major fight, ortiz quits in his corner

    Hatton vs scenechko

    James kirkland vs Nishida-

I wouldn't say Hatton Senchenko was particularly cherry picking?

Saying Hatton cherry-picked Senchenko is flat-out wrong, it wasn't at all cherry-picking. It deserved massive respect. True, Ricky picked him because he believed he could beat him but how many people would have picked to fight a bloke who was until very recently was a world champion and had a massive height and reach advantage over you, especially when you're fighting for the first time in three and a half years?

Ricky deserved props for having the bravery to do that rather than fight some bum from Timbuktu who would have just turned up for money.

In recent years you'd have to go with the obvious one in hattons comeback but also dudey vs Corley, I'd even say Carson jones for brook a lot of people thought it would be an easy nights work!!

I don't think Matthews vs crolla was cherry picking neither was khan/Peterson!!

McCloskey vs Corley definitely qualifies. McCloskey's level was exposed in that fight if hadn't been already. He's only Euro level and always will be. Corley is ancient but still beat up him, if Paul was ever going to become a world class fighter then he should have dealt with Corley easily. He didn't though and we all saw that McCloskey had unfortunately already reached his peak as a fighter and couldn't go any further.

Cooper was a late replacement. Holy was supposed to fight Tyson but he was arrested for ****, Damiani was the next opponent chosen but he mysteriously withdrew.

Thanks - I remember there was some shenanigans about that fight being made late.
