Vast majority of these are not cherrypicking - just upsets

Probably been mentioned but 100% Khan v Prescott. I remember old fish eyes at ringside basically blaming Rubio for the choice of fighter but still said the buck should stop with him as promoter. I'm far from naive and knew Prescott was just there because he had a clean record but wasn't meant to pose a threat but to basically hear fwrank say that after the fight was staggering. Remember this was top of the bill 'the man who would be king' (or whatever the fcuk they were calling it) PPV and they were openly admitting that they had got Prescott in because they thought Khan would roll him easy and they had got it wrong.

I don't like Khan but discounting that completely, it was brilliant for them to see their cash cow get taken down as they were straight up ripping people off

Of course Senchenko was a cherry pick for Hatton.

The old "he got busted up by Paulie who I dominated" moto came back to haunt him.

There are numerous examples illustrating that the triangle threory just doesn't work in Boxing.

De La Hoya vs Pacquiao was a cherry pick gone wrong.

Nigel Benn was seen as an easy nights work for McLellan. Don King thought Nigel was old and damaged goods and that McLellan could just come over and get an easy KO and take the belt back to the states. Didn't work out that way though as we all know.

To think they even had that ridiculous "Champion of the decade" belt ready for him.

Although he didn't lose Duddy Vs Smichet completely messed his chances of getting a pay day and title shot. Billy Lyell was the one he lost to another one Duddy was supposed to look good against and build up to a Pavlik fight against another Lowe fighter.

Could you say Lemieux vs Rubio and Alcine they back fired pretty bad.

Edit: Grady Brewer had a good one recently over Guerrero

I think Senchenko was a cherry pick. The whole "He was a former World Champion" doesn't wash with me when the man won his 'title' over a very poor Yuriy Nuzhnenko, the same guy who was well beaten by Ricky's brother. In today's world of so many titles a lot of poor fighters can call themselves a world champ. Senchenko faced one test in his career - a past it Malignaggi- and he was battered by him.

I agree, and some are just cases of underestimating an opponent, it's not quote the same thing as cherry picking.

I would say Prescott was most definitely cherry picked for Khan. There were question marks over Khan's chin so they they got somebody in who could punch in an attempt to restore confidence. Although they knew Prescott could bang a bit, they also knew he was a plodder and Khan would easily outbox him and look great doing it.

It only went wrong because Khan boxed like an idiot and gave Prescott his easiest win ever.

How about McGuigan-Cruz? Although Cruz was a replacement opponent he was supposedly just there to show Barry off to the American public ahead of some big money fights.
