    1) A jobbery is a jobbery no matter where the fight takes place

    2) Lewis-Holy 1 was not fought in Atlanta.

    3) I notice you failed to mention that Hopkins was dropped twice in the 1st fight with Mercado. IF that verdict was so much of a homer, why wasn't it a clear unanimous verdict?

    Lewis v Holy 1 was fought in the US, HOME country of Mr Holyfield, the term home town is just a phrase to describe the boxer, from the home nation. :roll:

    Hopkins getting knocked down twice in the first Mercado fight just backs up my argument about home advantage counting for something.
    Hopkins is/was a better boxer than Mercado yet he was unable to win in Mercado's back yard, when Hopkins fought at home he won easily.

    1]How do you explain that Hopkins could not beat Mercado away but could beat him at home ?

    2]How do you explain that the same bookie would have made Kessler favourite to beat Calzaghe in Denmark, yet make Calzaghe the favourite to beat Kessler in Wales ?

    3]Why are people certain that McGuigan would have beaten Cruz in Ireland, when they had just watched him lose to Cruz in the USA ?

    I will tell you the answers - [1]Altitude, [2]crowd support influencing judges virtually ruling out a points verdict for the away boxer and [3]Heat.

    Observation - home advantage is just that, an advantage, it may be a small advantage,
    but in some cases it could be the difference between winning and losing.

    It's strange that you have produced this thread, considering you are a mad manic fan of Mr Cardiff Ice Rink 1997-2006. :-D

    In respone to the above post by DINAMITA -
    Calzaghe has fought 28 fights away from home and only 18 at home !
    {2 USA, 1 Germany, 1 Denmark, 1 Scotland, 23 England} Joe would have faced many hostile crowds whilst fighting Englishmen in England, England and Wales big sporting rivals, the countrys were at war 600 years ago.

    Calzaghe fought the grand total of 4 fights at the Cardiff Ice Rink.:lol:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    American boxers should not be penalized for an economic climate/condition outwith their control.

    In responce to DINAMITA's above concern -
    I do not penalize American boxers for being American, if i thought that two or more boxers were of a similar standard, i would be inclined to rank the fighter that fights away from home more highly.
    {If an American boxer had fought quite a few fights on foreign soil, he would get be ranked higher than a European or a South American that had spent their whole career fighting at home, i repeat this 'tiebreaker' would only be used in my mind if i think the boxers are of equal standing}

    I have just checked my ATG top 30 against your ATG top 30 DINAMITA, and i have more Americans in my top 30 than you do ?, so i cant be biased against US boxers {not compared to your list anyway}
