Clottey does nothing better then Cotto Period. You have to beat Cotto with either power and punch output which Clottey lacks in both departments. Only thing Clottey will prove is that he can take a punch.
An excuse is very different than a fact. I think a 100% Cotto would just dominate Clottey during 12 rounds for a VERY OPEN UD. But Clottey is very strong and will be too hard to knock him out. A 70% Cotto could lose to Clottey. I also think this fight should be postponed at least a month to give Cotto a chance to trained properly. That is my opinion based on the FACTS. Like I said before, Cotto is a grown up man. He decided to go ahead with the fight. So he better train as hard as he can and not take Clottey lightly. If he losses, he will be losing a lot of money too.
Clotty's a tough kid and a solid champ, what he lacks is flow and fluidity. Clotty allows the opposition to many opportunities to initiate offensive sequences which creates dictation which happens to be Cotto's strong suit. I doubt Clotty will utilize his physical attributes to its fullest potential and it will cost him the fight. Clotty is strong but has an average killer instinct...he's reminds me of a basketball player that goes strong to the hole but finishes up his lay ups weakly and with hesitation. All in all both men are high quality fighters despite all the bull**** I'm seeing from past posts, Cotto is simply a cut above Joshua he's more versitle, he has shown greater adaptibility through adversity. Cotto UD
Greater adaptability????????? Like what? Like nut-puniching Zab Judah? Like conveniently having the referee postpone when Shane was bout to bust is ass? Or like taking a knee... TWICE? GTFOH!
Anybody can come up bad **** to say about anyboxer. Your obviously just being a hater ***** based on that idiotic post of yours. :deal STFU and GTFO:hi:
when did Cotto ask the ref to postpone? SHANE HIMSELF WAS THE ONE THAT SLIPPED, u makin it seem like Cotto told the ref to stop
No doubt...you mentioned earlier that Josh has difficulty intergrating his offensive burst with his winky defense, this is spot on...josh does an extremely small amount of slipping and or bobbing and weaving which hurts the defensive offensive transition..his counters are almost telegraphed which is why even if he's a devasting puncher most fighter can either brace or roll with his quick counters that usually find the target. The more I think about it the I see the technical mismatch in favor of cotto. Cotto needs feel out clottys strengths and decide wheter or not he should bang him inside and eventually take clotty out of his element and force him to punch a lot more than usual. Margo took that approach and josh's effectivness died down dramatically becuase he was forced out of his element. History shows us that josh is most effective when he's allowed to get off combos after using his shell...the key is to offset that with a thudding straight jab when he jumps in similar to the one cotto used against shane when he jumped in.
I'd love to see Clottey win, not because I hate Cotto, just because I feel like Clottey has paid his dues. But the more I think it over, the more I think the fight is a clear 7-5 or 8-4 for Cotto. Unless Clottey manages to do some serious damage with his jab early, in which case it's anyone's fight, but there's no question in my mind who the superior technician is. There's a good chance Miguel makes the first six look like target practice.
Not that its worth a response but I don't see how taking a knee is frowned upon...if Timothy Bradely didn't use it he would have probably been stopped in the first round of his unification bout vs Holt.
He did get out of line, but I'm curious which of Miguel's fights you would use to say he's particularly "adaptable". When I think about Cotto, I really think about a fighter who wins by doing what he does well and imposing his style in the process. I don't really think of him as a guy who has many different modes to draw on. Maybe I'm being shortsighted here.
