Well, name a few "slick American fighters" (not named Mayweather) that Pacquiao could have fought since 2003. A few guys that would have brought him the fame he has achieved today?

:think Shane Mosley. If you remember, he picked Josh Clottey instead of Mosley because Mosley was "too good".

And now he's fighting the guy that Mosley destroyed. Hmmm.

out of any slick african-american boxer out there, it is only floyd that is a serious threat to manny. the rest would be ktfo. alexander stands no chance and would look average.Pac is slicker, faster, and more talented than this guy. Bradley might be good but he does not have power and i see a one-sided beating from pacman.

So Pac is fighting Margarito at 154lbs but he is ducking Bradley and Alexander who are 140ers. That is a great logic. :think

lol. You fail to understand the point, I suggest you read the yellow words on page 1.

Well before you read the words, take your lame ass emotions out of it.

Pacquiao fights 1 of 2 styles:

Stand in front of him, come towards him.

People are saying they want to see Pacquiao face an actual BOXER with the style of BOXING who has HAND SPEED.

SO STOP ****ING BITCHING AND CRYING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE WANT, MANNY COULD GET IN THERE WITH ****ING GEORGE BUSH AND YOU WOULD LIKE IT.

So no matter how much you dumb *******s say "Oh Bradley would be no challenge", "Alexander would be no challenge", PEOPLE DON'T GIVE A **** WHO YOU THINK WOULD BE A CHALLENGE, WE ALL WANT TO SEE HIM FIGHT A ****ING FAST, FLEET FOOTED ****ING BOXER WHO WONT STAND THERE AND TAKE ****ING PUNCHES.

Also, Margarito = slow, comes forward, it will be ****ing target practice for Manny.

Another Manny Pacquiao fight, and in recent history it's the same Pac place, same Pac time, same Pac channel otherwise known as same style clash, same level of competition, same type of punching bag being put in front of him.

I still wonder why he didn't fight Zahier Raheem after he beat Moralas for starters. Mosley, Berto, Nate Campbell, Alexander and Bradley called him out to know avail. he rather fight a cheat whom just been koed 2 fights ago.

Easily Guzman after he beat Soto. (not african american) He could and SHOULD have fought Raheem. at 130 or a 'catchweight'. Hindsight being 20/20.

Maybe he would have lost those fights. Maybe he wasn't ready for that style. (who knows...Morales sure as hell wasn't ready either).

I would have LOVED to see a fight with Kendall Holt. that's my dark horse fav fight that didn't happen.

He still has a chance to fight Alexander and Bradley. Bradley definitely is more deserving though.

Again, the excuse is "Not enough money" with these African American fighters. that may have certainly have been the excuse. But since he became big after ODLH..its a horrible excuse.

Hell, there's a couple of black guys. in Arum's own stable that he could have fought. Any of the Peterson Bros. would have been decent.

    This one is easy.

If you followed the boxing scene back then really well, you'd know Zahir fought at a higher weight class. Pacquiao was still quite small back then and wanted to avenge his loss to Morales. By the time Pac finished Morales in the 3rd match, Zahir gained a really crappy reputation as a boring and dirty fighter, as shown with the Freitas fight.

His career never got any higher than beating Morales.

And if we look at it, there are no slick fighters with high names in the lower weights.

Except for Joan Guzman. And that guy ain't no American.

I hope you guys ain't saying that the Petersons were big names. They weren't.

Not really, when the Clottey fight was signed, Mosley-Berto was still supposed to happen.

Cotto or Mosley where the choices and frankly any of the 2 would have been a good choice (except fighting Mosley at 140 which was just silly).

And Mosley is not a slick fighter anyway. Skilled, yes, but not slick.

It is no secret that the template to what they are doing works and as long as people buy it why not, this has nothing to do with "slick black boxer" this is about they know what style to put in front of him to showcase his speed and wow his fans, his old manager admitted that they would not let him fight guys with speed or lateral movement but that does not matter as long as people can sit and watch their david vs golioth fight and see david win they are happy

I'll agree with Guzman, that was a good fight during the time, with enough interest and a tough enough opponent for Pac. And more importantly, Pac wasn't at the superstar status yet. So it could have been made easily.

Zahir, well I don't really think he ever became the option. Surely you're not suggesting that Pac should have skipped making the 2nd Morales fight to fight him? After the 2nd fight, I dont think he was available and Larios as a good choice for Pac as a tune up fight. The 3rd fight with Morales was part of the contract so again, Pac couldn't have skipped that. After that, I don't think anybody was interested in a Pac-Raheem fight.

Oscar was a money and name building fight, with Pac being the huge underdog. So despite this fight being treated as more of a joke fight nowadays in hindsight, it was still a good, important fight for Pac that you really can't fault him for taking.

After that, you can't argue that Hatton was the most logical choice for his next opponent. Lineal champ at 140, how could that not be a challenge for Pac? Again, it's only in hindsight that it's become such a "non-factor" fight because of how shitty Hatton apparently really was all this time.

After that, I guess you could argue that Bradley was an option, since he was another upcoming star at 140 during the time (Alexander still had not made a mark yet). But really, after the hatton fight, if you were asked, which would be a tougher fight, Cotto or Bradley? Would you really have said Bradley (or even Holt) at 140?

After that, well, the Clottey and upcoming Margo fights aren't much to be excited about, but after what happened with the Mayweather negotiations, which fight wouldn't have been a disappointment? At least the guy is fighting bigger guys.

So really, the only really good slick fighter I feel Pac could have fought but didn't was Guzman, all his other fights (up to the Cotto fight) were against opponent either tough opponents who people thought could give Pac the biggest challenge, and the tune up fights in between those fights

Why not put Pacman against 5 guys in the ring? So those who says he's ducking can stop...
