The whole 'hitting and not getting hit' thing is what elevates boxing into a science and separates it from mindless brawling.

There is nothing sweeter than making a guy miss and then making him pay.

Boxing like every other sports is all about winning.

And you got better chances of winning if you defend.

It's like hockey, soccer, basketball etc.. They also use defense.and nobody complains why they do such stupid things.

I would run all day long and keep fighting like that if i would win fights.

And who the hell like's to get hit?

You like when your nose is broken?eyes completely shut and you look like an alien?and nevermind the brain damages.

I think your post is **** and you have some sort of braindamage.

Its not really about hitting and not getting hit. That's just a motto that gets thrown around as if its boxing official slogan or something. when its not.

Boxing is about who is the more effective puncher. If that means you get hit in the process (think, mayorga vs forrest) then that's what boxings about. If it means you don't get hit in the process (think, mayweather vs anyone) then that's what its about.

It just so happens that if youre able to hit your opponent, without getting hit much in return, that you are probably more likely to be on the winning side of things, and in turn, are more effective, hence making 'its about hitting without getting hit' true.

The original poster and anyone who agrees with him are plainly idiotic, and I'll chime in with the sensible majority here that boxing is of course hitting and not getting hit. The very definition of the word, as Merriam Webster puts it, is "the art of attack and defense with the fists practiced as a sport". Hitting and getting hit=fighting, hitting and not getting hit=boxing. If a 'boxer' is getting hit he's not 'doing it right'. Is there still anyone who doesn't get it yet?
