Even before boxing as you put it.

Why do you think a guy would just hit another man as hard as he could then take a shot
and see if he could take it?

Remove all boxing knowledge you have, limited as it may be, would you hit a man as hard as you could then just stand there and let him punch you in the face? Of course not you want to inflict damage and protect yourself.

Boxing and fist fighting has never ever been about what you speak of. It goes against instinct.

I back up the dude who said earlier that you must be 12 years old.

The best ones to watch are guys like Leonard who can both box and bang.
Pure boxers are a bit boring to me but still somewhat appreciate it.
What i hate are clinchers and dirty fighters who are called "crafty" when what they are doing is clearly illegal.

Wars at a high skill level is what most fans want to see; Ali vs Frazier, Bowe vs Holyfield, Barerra vs Morales, Castillo vs Corrales, Hagler vs Hearns, Chavez vs Taylor, Arguello vs Pryor, DLH vs Mosley I, Marquez vs Vasquez, Chacon vs Lopez & Edwards, Sanchez vs Gomez........ These ( atleast to me ) type fights are what generate a buzz in boxing !!! I understand this isn't a toughman but it is possible to have high caliber fighters exchanging some heavy artillery in there.
