    In what fight?

IMO, it was possibly the Maidana fight.

Now say what you want, but he looked awesome from Hatton to Canelo.

JMM? Never layer a glove on him.
Shane? Yep, but other than that he was fine.
    Ortiz? Zzzz.
Cotto? His dad was in his corner for the first time.
Guerrero? Never layed a glove on him.
    Canelo? The same.

Then Maidana - largely due to his style - landed at will.

But against Marquez, Canelo, Mosely (re-watch Floyd's movements), Ortiz, Guerrero he had it all his own way.

I don't buy this "Floyd's prime was over years ago" bs.

Floyd's legs slowed down gradually after the Marquez fight. But that's about it.

Is he in his prime now? Nope. But it's not one of those "far from it" types, IMO. A few years removed yes, but not massively like 6+ years like some people make out.

People mention his age - but that has NOTHING to do with it when you are arguably the greatest defensive fighter of all time, your output is minimal and you've taken breaks from the game. That's preserving right there!

He's not in his prime anymore. I think he started declining after Marquez to be honest. He is using his fading athletic abilities now to go with his ring IQ which is second to none.

I'd be inclined to agree, but he is starting to hesitate about pulling the trigger, IMO.

I think the cotto fight is the last time I felt I was watching the real Floyd! he was not bad against canelo but the pop he had in his punch against cotto was gone.

I think Floyd declined since he is trained by his father...roger was better

Yup.. He is at his physical peak.. He has been on the incline for 17 years and is finally starting to show signs of not being young anymore.. You can barely tell the difference between 20 something year old Floyd to damn near 40 year old Floyd.. I could go on but you get the point...

He looked great, as fast and sharp as ever against Guerrero and Canelo.

Not much difference at all between that Floyd and the Floyd from 10+ years ago

only against Maidana looked like he declined

Floyd has done great at delaying his decline by mastering a negative defensive style, avoiding wars, being inactive for long periods of time, having a healthy lifestyle, and probably by using the best PEDs money can buy. Thanks to that, he might be near 40yo but he's fresher than most 29yo fighters

He's the polar opposite of blood and gut warriors like Morales, who is younger than Floyd yet is shot to pieces and might as well be 90yo in boxing years

but Father Time always gets you in the end, and recently, just recently, is starting to catch up with Floyd.

He could still be considered to be somewhat in his prime. The only thing that has really noticably deteriorated is his legs. His handspeed and reactions in the Pacquiao fight was as good as ever.

1996, after the Todorov loss he should have called it quits.
