the spinks fight is when he had the awakening that it was all a put on a rouse .. that it was all about him producing the most money for everyone around him ..nobody cared about him personally just what he could get them ..
it was all down hill from there ..watch the press conference after the fight you can see it in Tysons face he's just disgusted .. he's just destroyed spinks .. and he's disgusted and even threatens to leave the deal at one point..
watching that press conference I mean hind sight is 20/20 but watching it now ? you can see it in his face he's done .. the rest of his career he will just do the best he can to get by .. which even at is ho hum rate was impressive .. but you can see he never put the intensity into it again after that .. never

In reality, every option in the poll has truth to them. When Jacobs died, Tyson most likely felt snubbed that Jim never told him about it. And then Tyson found out a percentage of his earnings was going to Jacobs' wife, and then add Robin spewing in one ear and King in the other, it's a wonder he didn't kill anyone.

So definitely after the Spinks fight is option #1. As many said it took him losing to Douglas to take things seriously again, but he were never going to be the same unless Rooney stuck around. The Ruddock fights proved he could still do some damage when in shape and mentally prepared. Then the prison stint, which should be option #2.

Post prison he did what only Ali and Foreman had done - regain the heavyweight title 10 years after first winning it. Still, he needed more fights, more rounds, better trainers, but with $30,000,000 a pop for every fight?!
