But he didn't become a big middleweight, IMO. And I personally think that he could make 154 if he wanted. Obviously, if it became apparent that he couldn't, I would admit that he is indeed a big middleweight. But as far as I am concerned, he is a legitimate Middleweight that can still push to the 154 pound limit with the right motivation. And a fight with Manny Pacquiao is more than enough motivation.

There's a difference in not physically being able to cut weight and it being a very large inconvenience to do so. I would think the latter applies to Maravilla. He never struck me as a particularly huge light-middle, much less a big 160 pounder. There's cutting six pounds to fight Alfredo Angulo or Miguel Cotto, and there's cutting six pounds to fight Manny Pacquiao. I think it would become a lot less of a inconvenience if a fight as lucrative as a Pacquiao bout was on the table.

I like how all the *****'s were "He's not an 8th div champ, no such thing as 150 title, this is a bs fight, he's not a champ". To:

"He should defend his 154lb title" :rofl

Besides, didnt Team Pac already say they were coming back down to 147 and staying there. They tested the waters at 154 and wasnt happy with it. WAY BEFORE Martinez even became a viable opponent.

Mixture of this and Pavlik fans not wanting to admit that their dude got 7 bells beat out of him by a light middleweight.

Paul Williams has the same reach as Wlad. What's he doing calling out Manny and Martinez when he should be fighting heavyweights??

Congrats on comparing him to a fighter who doesn't put much weight on after the weigh in I guess, if it's even true that Froch puts on 2lbs for fight night.

Sorry man. There is far too much talent at and right above 160 for Sergio to be looking down. These men didn't become great looking back, but by looking forward. Greatness is obtained by taking RISKS! Fighting guys two divisions below you who are NOT natural WWs isn't risky nor does it build your legacy.

He has lots of great names right there in his division and can become legendary cleaning up on the scraps of the Super Six.

Martinez is a recent arrival to the division himself.

Most of his career has been at Welterwt and some at jnr middlewt. He moved up to middlewt at age 34, when most in the sport are retired.
