When did the Heavyeight champion title lose its sparkle?

    To be fair, a lot of those guys were WBO champs when it was clearly second tier., particularly in the HW division.

    I remember hearing in the mid 80's how moribund the division was. I remember hearing the same in the 90's when Lewis got a belt. In reality, the same should have been said about the late 70's, the non-Ali 60's, the rank and file 50's heavies...

    It's a division that is cyclical but folks with ADD have a harder time seeing the bigger picture...

    Depends on which part of the world you live in. Boxing itself is in decline.
