I have to admit, I used to look at chin checkers like they were crazy... I didn't really believe the strength's of chins varied a great deal, I also thought if they vary, it couldn't matter much... I studied the skills of fighters to decide who would win fights. It served me well, but I still pondered the idea of chins, varying in strength, having different material break downs... "Nah its bollocks!", I thought... Until one day... I SAW THE GLASS!!!! It was December 14th 2013, I placed $100 on Adrien "The Problem" Broner to win against Marcos "El CHINo" Maidana. Everything was against El CHINo. Al Haymond had set Broner up with a tailor made opponent. Broner was supposed to pick Maidana apart from the get go, Chino was there to serve as Broner's punching bag... This fight was meant to set Broner up as a PPV attraction. The ref was on his side, the judges, the commentators, the network. Everything... I felt confident watching Broner come up to the ring... I knew I had made a smart pick and was making an easy $20. But then, something happened... I heard a SMASH, Broners glass flew all around the canvas. CHINo knocked this fraud down twice in the fight. His Glass jaw was exposed. CHINo won so decisevley the judges couldn't even steal the fight from him. It was beautiful, I wasn't even mad that I had essentially paid $100 to see it. During that fight I truly believe it was a sign from the Gods of Boxing for all of us sports betters to convert to CHINianity. There is no denying it: A glass chin was exposed by a fighter with "CHIN" in his alias.(Can't spell CHINo without CHIN) My Soul feels different now. I hope many others who have dismissed CHINianity will consider converting their beliefs. I now always pick winners of fights based on CHIN because that's the only attribute that matters in boxing in the modern era. 2014 is tomorrow, this boxing season is packed with two things BIG PUNCHERS (Kovalav, GGG, Stevensons) and GLASS CHINS (Deontay Wilder, too many others to name). I truly believe this is a sign the reckoning is upon us and there isn't much time to convert before judgement day... :scaredas:I fear for the sake of many posters on ESB... For those of you who believe, please share your story. It is our duty to let others know about how glass exists in chins so they do not make horrible bets during the 2014 boxing season. My name is TinFoilHat, and I believe in glass chins. I tried my best, regardless I hope you all have a happy New Years! And Remember: "Chins Matter." - Rico Spadafora
I became a believer in 1973 when I saw Frazier - Foreman. I remember betting on Smoking Joe based on his superior boxing skills, but I overestimated his Chin. Boy, the glass was flying all over the ring. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9l_RrjjTMc Just look at this China porcelain. Getting shattered by every decent punch Foreman throws. What a tender Chin. Joe Frazier + disgraceful glass Jaw = Glass Jaw Frazier.
not sure if this would have made me believe. I guess this was much before my time though... I just think Foreman had good power, but thats more hindsight for me. I know the history of the game, haven't seen too many historic fights though.
