No it was a bold decision that was the right one to make.

He beat ali in 76 and was the premiere hw in the world.

By 79 ali was not even a top 3 hw so how anyone thinks he's still the true champ is beyond me.

How did you score ali-norton 3?

lennox lewis was handed the WBC belt in the same way. great fighter, but even with a belt he stll needed to beat either Bowe or holyfeild to establish himself as the worlds best. At the same point Ken needed to beat holmes, shavers -even spinks before he could be regarded as the worlds best as well but that was beyond him.

For me he ended ali's run and from then I have him as the best.

Ali/Norton III was a damn close fight, there is no need to discredit the result. Indeed in all the examples you have given, with the exception of Chavez/Whitaker, the results can be deemed as debatable, but fair.

It is not for us to define if the right or wrong man won, that is by default the only definite in boxing. But What you can do is give kudos to a loser or down play a win.

For the sport to change even one result, would open Pandora's Box.

It is exactly for us to do that.

What you call pandora's, I call boxing discussion.

Discussion is fine, but to actually change something is what I am calling the opening of Pandora's Box.

Boxing is a subjective sport by nature.

I can accept ali being the best hw in the world after knocking out big george. Come 76 he's defending his crown vs norton. I can watch that fight whenever I please, I can be really impressed by ken's performance and deem him the better of the two and hence the new best hw in the world. A title he keeps up until the larry fight.

What I wouldn't do is watch a fight, like say lara v williams, be mega impressed by lara for kicking the **** out of pwill, determine he is clearly doing better and then suddenly change my mind because the judges disagreed.

Same with martinez's recent run post bunema: if I think he's won each fight I won't suddenly decide otherwise because 3 men concluded differently.

Whether I think a judge is wrong by 1 round or 12 rounds, if I disagree, I disagree.
