I started in the mid 90's. Still vividly remember both Tyson-Holyfield fights. I think some people on these forums still haven't seen a fight yet.
This content is protected The first fight i watched was apollo creed v rocky balboa 1, i was hooked after that.
first fight i ever saw was Tyson-Williams, and thought Danny Williams was the best in the world coz he beat Tyson hahahaha didnt have a clue that Tyson was older, i just saw it was Mike Tyson and thought "wow, how did he beat him?", was a casual up till 2012, since then i've barely been out on saturdays coz my addiction to this beautiful sport is just too strong
29 years old and from germany started watching boxing in 1995 when henry Maske faced Graciano Rocchigiani both where pretty popular at the time in germany
when threads like this come up i am always surprised at the maturity of esb posters/ since so many of the threads and posts that i read are teenage drivel with no reasoning or debate just either jingoistic or trolling garbage. i suppose the older posters have family responsibilities and work / meaning they cannot devote as much time or waste as much time on esb. but boxing and athletics are my favourite sports / good for me as when i started watching boxing uk boxing was in the doldrums with no boxer deemed worthy of even fighting for the british heavyweight title compared to today.
Minus the pathetic trolls on here I'm awe of the boxing knowledge on this forum. Some time in the nineties when I thought Eubank n Benn were the best as I wasn't aware of all the other names in the US,watched most of Lennox Lewis fights and thought Oscar was the bravest most exciting guy out there who always seemed to be on the wrong end of close fights,Sugar Shane Mosely was something else in his pomp, took a long break from boxing and yet I always return too it.
Always liked boxing didn't start actually following the sport until after Pacquiao vs Cotto though. That fight made me a fan of the sport to the point that I got my younger brother to become an amateur boxer. Thats why I hate the ******* ***** arguements. Pacquiao made me a fan but some of his fans were just delusional
In my teens during Iron Mike's campaign. He really sold the sport to the masses. Who could not keep their eyes glued to the screen? You couldn't look away or you would miss the KO.
I have been a hardcore fan of boxing for 24 years - almost to the day... 31 October 1992. Halloween Night. Lewis v Ruddock. I was 16. I have not been a "hardcore" fan for the last 6 years or so though. Boxing became incredibly dull with Mayweather and Wlad stinking the sport up. It totally turned me off. My interest is peaking again now that they are gone.
You are the sort who has been around for 5 minutes and act like you know it all. Always a pleasure dealing with the likes of you on these boards.
Since around 03-04, after first being in to MMA - Pride Fighting in particular. I started watching Tyson videos and quickly came to prefer boxing over MMA and soon it became my favorite sport overall.
The problem is that a lot of the people who post the most on here, do so with a very clear bias for/against certain fighters. Reason and logic go out the door and we're left with various piles of feces disguised as threads. People also like to lump others in to groups to better generalize them, such as "all GGG fans were Pac fans". It's to the point where most "discussions" are akin to devout christians arguing with atheists. No one is ever going to change their mind and the whole thing is a waste of time. It's why I tend to read more than post as the only thing people seem to take notice of/reply to are the outlandish posts. This place would be a lot better if people straight up stopped responding/giving attention to very clear trolls. Let them wallow in their filth and eventually, after they fail to get the attention they apparently don't get offline, they will either shape up or ship out.
