Tough to say, but its something I've put a lot of thought to over the years because Margarito was one of my favorites at that moment and I was devastated by both the wraps tampering revelation and the fallout.

Its pretty safe to say something foul was afoot against Cotto, because Cotto, like Billy Resto before him, had a face that was busted up in a way that face usually don't fall apart in the ring.

Its hard to say about the two preceding fights. Yes, Cintron went down from a shot that didn't look particularly hard, possibly pointing to something fugazi, but then again Cintron had already been cucked by Margarito with a catastrophic emotional breakdown afterwards. And Golden Johnson was so far outclassed that Antonio didn't probably need mixed up wraps to beat him in 1 round.

There's a theory that Margarito started loading after the frustration of losing to Paul Williams, but even the Williams fight is suspect because it was kind of odd how Williams, who was ridiculously tough and had unlimited stamina, was suddenly on the brink of collapse in the last two rounds. Maybe he was still just green, or maybe something was fishy?

Its also weird to note that in both the Sebastian Lujan fight and the first Cintron fight both guys came away with a messed up ear. The Lujan fight is obviously more notorious, but Cintron's ear was also busted up and had the beginning of a calaflower swelling going on. But its kind of hard to believe that Margarito and Capatillo could get away with the scheme for several years and nearly 10 fights without getting caught.

Who knows though, slight of hand is an amazing thing, so maybe it took someone as on point as Brother Naz to identify the ruse.

Antonio NEVER EVER loaded or even tried to load his gloves/ve lmown hium since 1999 & been ringside at many of his fights What happened to him was a tragedy
That lying POS Richeardson is noted for complaining aboutthe opposing fighters wraps. He yelled thatPLASTER BLOCKS fell from Tony's wraps after complaining they felt HARD !! Try asking him or the CSAC whatever happened to those BLOCKS no one else saw. All the lab ,testing the wraps found was a soft damp used gauze pad with traces of HUMAN SWEAT on it.
you'll get no answer from either as apparently the CSAC have mislaid that harmless pad lol HOW CONVENIENT !!

I think Naazim discovered it by accident, he always tried to play mind games by messing with the way the other guy wraps his hands. He did it with Trinidad as well vs Hopkins. It just so happened that in this case it actually did turn out to expose a scandal

For all the people who defend AM let me ask you a question: After the hand wrap scandal AM never scored another KO over another boxer. Why is that? Power is the last thing to go in a boxer

I'd bet money they were loaded during the first Cotto fight. I remember watching that fight and being confused by Cotto's mounting injuries as the fight wore on--they did not seem at all commensurate with the kinds of punches that Margarito was landing.

is it really proven he loaded them? If he did he probably slowly started early enough when the fights got tougher and he wanted that edge. For a boxer to do that is pretty bad. It is supposed to be no advantages.
