At what stage in their careers? What does he have to acomplish before being labelled as ATG; fight the best and win convincingly? How is this 'status' derailed? JMM RJJ Tito Oscar Tyson JCC Lenox Manny Floyd Alvarez (peeps say he is the next big thing but i'm not sold on it) ?
being a prizefighter simply means they fight for a prize which in boxing is money - as soon as they turn pro and have there first fight they are a prizefighter, doesn't matter if the earn a dollar or a million.
When i think of the word prizefighter SRL comes to mind straight away. But yes all in all, every boxer is a prizefighter
Um, the point when a boxer becomes a prizefighter is when he goes pro. After that time, every fight is for a cash prize. Are you thinking of the wrong word for some reason?
If the question is what makes an ATG, many say it's when a fighter beats another ATG in or near their prime. I suppose an alternative would be reigning over a division for a long ass time and taking on all contenders, establishing dominance in and around your weight-class. I suppose the two go together because there are many borderline-type fighters who only have one and not the other and their legacy suffers.
ATG = legend, so to become an ATG they need to accomplish something, retire for a number of years and then ppl start forgetting their weaknesses and make gods out of them.
when resume and skills are at the highest level. when you beat big name fighters, not only 1, but a bunch.
Hell no. It can add greatly to a legacy, but beating an ATG is no measure unless it's in their prime or somewhere close to it and you have other achievements to speak of. Ask Buster Douglas, Danny Williams, Rustico Torrecampo or Larry Donald. . .
